Fished Edick (I believe that’s the name of it) on Sunday. Small lake across from Sebula pretty much next to Spring Lake. Had 4″ in most holes. Did notice one hole a little thinner. About 3″. Caught a ton of small ‘gills on wax worms. Only a couple of crappies on minnows. Dad managed to somehow snag a 15″ largemouth in the gill. Was after his minnow. Only cleaned 6 fish at the end of the day. After this latest warm spell I don’t know if I’d trust the ice just yet. Maybe someone else knows better than I.

We walked the railroad bridge. Went there twice last year same way. Judging by the Illinois plates in the parking lot on Sunday & the number of guys fishing I’d guess they did the same. I did hear some moreon last season dragged a shanty across the bridge & held up a train. After that the railroad shut down the bridge. My advice, just take a bucket & auger. Looking at a map, it looks like you can cross Spring Lake & get in there. I’d suggest an ATV though. The problem there is my wife won’t let me use hers!
December 30, 2003 at 8:23 pm #286905ICE, SORRY TO KEEP BOTHERING YOU. DO YOU CROSS THE ENTIRE RIVER FROM SABULA OR ACCESS FROM ILLINOIS SIDE? IF FROM ILLINOIS, WHERE DO YOU PARK? TBASS
December 30, 2003 at 9:28 pm #286908We walk the train bridge from Sebula. I’m sure you could make it from the Illinois side if the ice is thick enough & if you have enough endourance to walk the 2+ miles.
December 30, 2003 at 9:48 pm #286910ICE, THANKS FOR THE INFO. I THOUGHT THAT’S WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT. HAVE YOU DONE MUCH ICE FISHING ON POOL 13? I DON’T SEEM TO DO TO WELL THERE. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I CATCH A FEW IN MICKELSON’S. HAVE HAD SOME LUCK ON POOL 12 AROUND GALENA AND BLANDINGS LANDING. TBASS
December 31, 2003 at 5:36 pm #287017I make it over there a few times a year. Most of the time we fish around the Pallasades. Usually in Millers or the next lake to the West. I believe it’s Pin Oak Lake, but I could be wrong. I’d like to figure out how to get into Brown’s Lake. If anyone out there could tell me I’d appreciate it! I’ve never had much luck on Mickelsons, but I haven’t fished it much since they dredged it a few years ago. I haven’t been to Blanding’s Landing in many years. My dad fished there alot in the 70’s but I don’t think he’s even been back since. In fact, I only made it to Savannah once last spring. It seems like I have more time to drill holes than launch a boat.

Posts: 1January 1, 2004 at 4:16 pm #287110were out at michalsins on the 27th ice wasn’t bad going out but at the end of the day there was alot of water on top. the lakes to the west of millers at pallesads park are hickery and west hickery. Has been a long time since i have been out there fishing. I was told that if the water was down there wasn’t much water in millers is this true, or is there enough to icefish. On the subject of browns lake, I have heard from some guys that they had done well there last year but as yet have not been able to get the specs as to were they park and how they get in there, did here its atleast a mile walk.what about thompsons seen afew there last weekend but not many.
January 2, 2004 at 12:35 am #287128Thanks for the info sch. I haven’t been anywhere but Edeck so far this season so I’m useless when it comes to info about other lakes. As far as the walk into Brown’s being a mile, that’s no big deal. If you find out how to get in there please let me know.
January 2, 2004 at 5:06 am #287144To get to Brown’s, you park in Green Island (between Sabula and Bellevue). Word from home is that Brown’s hasn’t been producing and the ice was iffy mid-week.
January 2, 2004 at 7:13 am #287148Thanks for the info. The weather man is calling for a cold spell next week so the ice should be back soon.
January 2, 2004 at 4:10 pm #287180SCH109, LAST YEAR I WENT TO MILLERS TO FISH AND THE WATER WAS LOW. AFTER DRILLING A HOLE THERE WAS SLIGHTLY MORE THAN A FOOT OF WATER IN MOST PLACES. THE ICE WAS PRETTY THICK, AROUD 6 0R 7″‘S. HOW DID YOU FARE AT MICKLESONS? I SEEM TO BE ABLE TO CATCH SMALL FISH, BUT THATS ABOUT IT.TBASS
