Got sick of playing bumper boats up by the dam, so I decided to go check out the back waters for some panfish. Caught just a ton of blue gills, they were stacked in the back of dead end sloughs, next to wood. Got most on an ice jig with a wax worm, and caught a lot on berkley gulp bait to. We ended up keeping 50 over 8″ between the three of us, and I guarantee we through back double that many. I would assume anyplace you catch them through the ice early you could get them now by boat.

I also was up at Guttenberg yesterday for the most part Walleye fishing. It was 37 degree water temp & the fishing was tough, so I went to the back waters and picked up quite a few pan fish on my long rods & jigs. I like action and the Walleye fishing just was’nt getting it for me. 41 degree dead water wintering areas is where it was happening.
