Got out for a few hours on Sun. Put in on pool 8 below Dresback dam. Nothing on eyes and very few smallmoth. Fished wing dams from dam to just downstream side of 90 bridge. Was real impressed with sunfish. Down stream side of any wing dam had some real nice sunfish on them. Found them by accident throwning nightcrawlers with split shot shallow. Did’t keep any but had some dandys. Went to tube jigs on 1/6 heads and caught sunnies and some small crappies. Be carefull,I fish this area spring and fall for eyes and have fair fishing. Thought I knew the area pretty well but took a chip out of my prop. 10ft. is now 6inches. Pitched some kalin tails on light jigs- 2 sheephead. Had fun. Good luck.

    Hey Art

I’m seeing the same type of bite here on the upper end of pool 4… although the action isn’t really centered around the wingies… ‘cuz we don’t have many up this way. But the side channels with light flow and some fallen timber are just loaded with big numbers of nice gills and some crappies. The large floating dock at Everts, which is on the main channel, is home to a large school and a guy can go down and fish a small leech or worm on a light hook / split shot and pretty much enjoy near non-stop action. I’d bet with this ultra-low flow summer many people are finding the panfish action to be very good in easy to access places on the main channel all up and down the river. The next time I stumble across these buggers I’ll shoot a few pics. Some of them are real dandies.
