I catch a lot of heat from my “buddies” that if I don’t use my boat more my wife Bea, will turn it into a flower box so I took her out crappie fishing on pool 8 saturday morning so she can see it’s better used for fishing. The local bait shop was out of crappie minnows so we settled for small walleye minnows. The bite slowed down since Thursday it seemed. We started out in 13 fow early in the morning and then found them in 8 -10 fow a little later. Bea gave me a lesson yesterday catching some real nice crappies for lunch the biggest being 11 3/4″ and the smallest 10 1/2″. I think the bigger minnows kept the small ones from biting. I kept the small ones busy with a swedish pimple and a little cecil with waxies. Her best fish were on a white 1/16 oz jig under a slip bobber. I tried several colors the best results being on chartruese. It was a beautiful day on the river – too short as yard work was calling but the results made for an excellant lunch and she kicked my once again in the fish department.

Holy cow Mike, you are on a roll with catching fish and getting the boat out You guys definitely have the crappies dialed in in our area. Sounds like I may need to slow down and hit some panfish. Next weekend is free of tournies for me so looks like it is time for a relaxing day catching crappies and gills

Way to go Bea I’m glad to see you both fishing out of the boat instead of filling it with dirt

    Enjoy your fish fry
