    Hi experts, I’m just wondering what backwater, slough fishing is like in late summer? Any panfish still back there or have they moved off. This would be in the pool 9 area.

    Thanks!

    I fish pool 10 a lot. I see a lot of fisherman hitting the back sloughs with a crawler on the bottom catching BIG GILLS. They are mostly fishing the current breaks.These guys are fishing from mid to late June all the way through Late September.

    I have had excellent luck around Blackhawk Park throughout the summer months on Crappie. I fish Minnesota Slough in 9-13 feet of water over sunken trees. If you want more info PM me and I’ll fill you in on the specifics. Good Luck.

    In August, assumng the water levels are fairly low it is rock piles and wingdams; both main channel and secondary channels. The bigger ones move out of the sloughs.

    I would fish the deeper slow moving backwaters & even the channel it self for Panfish. If it’s up above normal then work alittle shallow & more inland. {John}

    On my one trip up to Lansing, I ran into some ‘gills around Desoto bay. I think Herb is the panfish expert in that area.
