Today I was fishing in the Wabasha area, to my suprise the ice was not as thick as I expected. I found 1 1/4 to 2 inches of good solid ice today. I had to move a couple of times but ended up finding some nice crappies. I lost alot of fish under the ice today. When I hooked a fish they would run up and hit there nose on the ice about 4 ft away from the hole and throw your jig. The fish were being kind of fussy, so I made a switch to artificial and worked the jig hard, resulting in the crappies hitting like a freight train.

    Tight lines & be safe

    Nice fish Joey!

I know where there’s thicker ice south of there…

Thanks for the report and pic Joey. Nate said you stopped out at HOF on your way to do some ice fishing. Those crappies look good.
    Thanks, Bill

Glad to hear you got out. Surprised the ice was not thicker, but that will change quickly. Those look like some nice crappies!

    Good Fishing,
