Some of the backwater areas will be thawing out pretty soon with the warmer temps they are talking about coming our way. Anybody been finding any ice out panfish already? If so, how about sharing types of backwater areas and your techniques used to catch them with everyone. Not asking for your spots, just what parts of the backwater areas are you fishing? Its time to start thinking ice out panfish.
    Thanks, Bill

    hi bill,
the crappie bite is now certainly on…we have been fishing the Wilcox area near wabasha. Minnows under floats in 2′ to 3′ also, small panfish jigs tipped with minow catching the larger fish plus the bonus largemouth (they also have the feed bag on!) It’s not as fast and furious as last year, but a steady bite for those with patience. It’s a busy launch area, so expect much traffic. color of jig does not seem to matter….if you are set with an electric troll motor, move on from likely spot to likely spot and you will have a ball! We’ve kept a meal, the rest go back for you and others to enjoy!!

Thanks and Welcome. Great to have you with us. Please feel free to share and post all you want.
Sounds like you had a good day on the water. Crappies are hard to beat for good fish action in the spring. Sure gets a person fired up for a whole season of fishing.
    Thanks, Bill
