Got back on the ice yesterday, the 24th, for a few hours. Fished the upper end of Kehough. River has dropped about a half of foot since last weekend. Fishing was slower than last week but still managed to bring home a few nice ones. Mostly gills with a few crappie. Many more smaller fish. One irritating thing, people leaving fish on the ice! I must have counted 15 to 20 small bass laying on the ice. Tried to put a few back in but they were too far gone. Also noticed that the USFWS service has put up signs barring motor vehicles from crossing over land. Have to stay on the ice. Is this the start of the new usage plan that they have been talking about? Be careful – lots of places with water and deep slush on the ice. Hope to get out this week and try Fishtrap and maybe Sunfish/Ryan’s. Will give you an update. Those roc-a-roos are still working for crappies. Have a great Christmas!

Ice is in pretty good shape. Average is about 8 inches. Some areas a little less. Current usually pushes it down to about 5 inches. Most backwater areas are pretty safe. Just need to watch those parts of Harris Slough that have current coming in off the channel. Good fishing!
