I will do everything I can to get up a complete report (with pictures) in the next couple of days, but wanted to let you know that the water temps are dropping fast and the the crappies are hungry. I pulled some dandy slabs this past weekend. I won’t be home until very late the next few nights, but will do my best to get up a report. The hot rig has been bl/wh tube dressed with a minnow.

Pardon me for sounding dumb, as I usually fish for other species, but I wanted to try and fish for some Crappies with the old man and son… curious as to proven methods… 1 pole, multiple poles? Slip bobbers? Various depths? Should the lure be down at 8-13 feet? Do you jig it? Would be appreciated if anyone might share some ideas for a novice?

If you fish with a bobber I would suggest using the slip variety so you can quickly change your depth. The crapps could be a couple feet below the surface or on the bottom. Often you can find them at various depths. I mostly fish with just a marabou jig and do plenty well with a modest motion. Expect them to hit it on the drop, like any other fish. The trees almost always hold crappies but gettin snagged is the ugly by product. Therefore I would recommend one rod, especially since the best trees have a touch of current and that doesn’t bode well for an unattended stick.
