Yes I had another great day on the river fishing sunnies. Went out with John and Betty Martin from Lansing. They said that they were getting hungry for some of those sunfish. They went home with 40 keeper fish. Several went back in the water for little more growing up. What a blast we had. Just using a small hook, a tiny piece of crawler, tiny sinker and a small bobber. The pattern had not changed from yesterday.

Nothing better than a nice bunch of “blues” to make your day!!! No fish is better eating than a bluegill. (OK.. maybe a yellow perch). Nummy!! Nice crispy fillets. Enjoy!

Yes we did get some real dandy’s md. We sorted as we caught them. Was not keeping anything under 8″. They are a blast to catch, even the small ones.
Even had a few LM but only one that was a keeper.

    Hey Bret thanks.
Was waiting on a phone call this AM. While waiting for that I made 5 loaves of homemade bread. Having some of it for lunch. Then I’m heading out to find a carp Just can’t beat them canned carp to eat.
We still have to try for those kitties again sometime. If I was younger I’d be out here trying it at nite. But don’t know what I’d do if something happened and me all by myself out there in the dark. Besides I’d probably get a lashing from my kids on top of it.

    Way to go Mary!
I enjoyed a meal of gils last night that my mother-in-law fried up. Tough to beat ’em.

I hope the fish stay in the area now that I found them. But then one never knows. Were a lot of boats in the aea where we were. Didn’t see too much activity from any of them. Had a few that kept getting closer to us. But still didn’t see much being pulled in. The fish were really finicky. Bobber had to be a certain depth and the worm just a certain size hunk. Even had a couple of crappie take the worm. So they must be moving into that area too.
By the way no carp yesterday but caught 3 cats and 2 keeper walleye, a sheepie and a mooneye.

    Bill,

one question, main channel wingdams or sloughs. The last time I was on Pools 5A and 6 (about 2 weeks ago) the Sunnies were biting off the top of wingdams with a small sinker, hook and piece of night crawler. With the cooler weather at night I wonder if they are starting to move back into the sloughs.

Talked to a guy last nite that had to let me know the gills were biting in DeSoto Bay Said that they caught 80 big ones. Then added that they were legal having that many as there were 3 boats I didn’t bother to ask how many were in each boat. Thinks he is such a hot shot fisherman. And is such a bragger with an attitude. Wouldn’t surprise me if he took all the fish when they got to their vehichles. Sorry I’m letting the better side of myself show.
Other than that I can’t tell you what is going on. Went Monday and have not been out since. Thinking tomorrow.
