My family and I had a great weekend fishing around Black Hawk Park. We caught a bunch of sunfish, catfish, sheephead, some smallies and a few walleye. Some of the sunfish were closed to 9 inches long. We caught a few fish on the wingdams but the best bite seemed to be the rocky hard bottom shorelines north of the park. We caught the variety of fish on a plain hook/split shot/crawler and 1/16 oz jigs with a crawler just dragging them a long with the current in 3-11 feet of water. We also caught some of the walleyes on edge of some sandbars in 12-14 feet using jigs/crawlers and lindy rigs.
The campground is well taken care of including nice showers and bathroom facilities. The weather was the best part with highs close to 80 degrees and no rain!

Glad to see you and your family all had a great time over the weekend. Black Hawk Park is very kept up and soo clean. Also everything so easy to get to. The guys that are running it are so accommodating, willing to help at all times. Also a nice bait shop right there close too.

Nice report! I think I’ll have to come out and check it out this weekend.
