We’ve been out working backwater weed edges and deep holes (depending on conditions) and coming up with some nice catches of bluegills, crappies, and perch. The fish are decent sized and really inhale microjigs tipped with live bait or jigs tipped with plastic. Possibly a banner summer as far as consistancy trip after trip. 
Anybody been fishing pool 8 for panfish? I’ll be down there this weekend staying at black hawk park saturday and sunday with the family. I heard the grass in the water is pretty bad right now, hopefully we can find a few fish.
fish them all— I am going to go this evening for some panfish, haven’t been out for a week or so but they were on or behind every wingdam that I have fished. They seem to be a bit smaller this year at least the ones I have been getting. Not that there aren’t keepers, but takes longer to get them. Lots of fish tho. Will let ya know after tonite-I hope–John
Last nite after trying for some eyes, of which I caught only one and 2 other hits, I tried for some gills. They were there and hungry, using just a split shot and piece of crawler. I anchored close to the wingdam and threw on the back side and worked toward the boat. If I didn’t get hit behind the dam, right on top or in front they just slammed it. I must say, some really nice sized gills also. You did have to sort them but many just under the 9 inch mark. If ya get, out good luck.–John
