River Perch….

    Hey guys,

    as some of you might know, I’m not a big panfish guy……but every once in a while, I accidently catch one of them little buggers .

    Like today while I was casting ringworms to some riprap on pool 6 in search of the mighty walleye, I hooked into what I thought was a smallmouth (by the way it fought), but to my suprise it was actually a perch the size of a freakin football . I didn’t even realize perch got that big in the river…….This guy was between 13.5-14″ and fatter then heck.

    Is this anyhting special? Or are 14″ perch a pretty common occurnce?

    either way, it sure looked big to me (compared to the piddley little things I’ve caught while ice fishing)

    Jake,

    That is an awesome perch..i’ve got a 15″ perch mounted a few years ago…it was around 2lb’s….They really are huge at that size

    Hey Jake,

    That is a nice perch. I’ve got one mounted that is about 14 1/2 inches and 2 lbs. Perch that large are fairly rare, and even more rare from the MS.
    I’m a tad bit surprised that you would even mention going ice fishing!
