A cool, clear, windy morning, Sunday, on the water at 730 am., looking for active fish. Caught a few small walleye, and sauger, the action was slow. While moving to another location noticed gulls working the surface of the water, at a bend in the river. Cast a little cleo, silver-blue into the frenzy, and a 16 inch white bass was the result. The next hour, I followed the birds and the white bass, resulting in 21 white bass caught, all the same size as the first, released, and then the action ended as quickly as I had found it. The fish were working a bend in the river, swift current, and 12 foot of water rising up to 6 foot. Fast action, ultra light gear, good fun. Off the water at 10 am.
