La Crosse- Shopko Bay

    Lots of bluegills suspended in the depths of the bay just south of the I – 90 bridge. Caught dozens of them using ice fishing tackle and ultralight rod. Good eating size.

    Thanks for the report!

    I used to fish the Shopko bay for big pike this time of the year. My guess is if the sunfish are in there, the pike can’t be too far away. That bay held hawg pike.

    Also saw elderly gentleman yesterday catching very nice Gills on both the I-90 bridge and the Clinton Street bridge rip rap shoreline. He didn’t catch a single dink while I was around. Looked like a piece of worm on a super light jig with a fly rod was what he was doing.
