Casted hair jig for crappies Friday evening on Lake Winona. After catching one right off the bat (11.2 inches), I only caught one more in an hour, 8.6 inches. The bluegills appear to be still running small in this lake. But I think the crappies should not be ignore. There’s some dandies in here!

This lake has some nice crappies in it. I know a guy that goes to winona state that took a class on the lake and he said that there are over 3 million gills in the 3 to 4 inch range that will never get any bigger. Some thing has to be done to correct this.

The bluegills remain stunted, Dodge Boy. The lake was dredged, and in severalk years this may change. For now, the bass and crappies are the best bet. And that’s not such a bad thing. The crappies are eating some of the smaller bluegills, I discovered when I cleaned them.
