Panfish @ steamboat bay

Headed to leech on 15th for multi-family vacation. In past years I have always done well for walleye and bass. I have really struggled to find panfish to keep the kids and some of the others interested. Any tips for the Steamboat/Kabekona bay areas for Crappie/Sunfish?

This time of year the bigger gills will be sitting near the bottom. Use a piece of crawler on a jig heavy enough to get it to the bottom fairly quickly to get past the small aggressive fish. Keep trying different spots until you find them. This is my summer technique for all lakes.

Have a friend who takes kids out a lot for pannies-he sets them up with a drop shot rig, this gets the bait to the bigger ones, takes the mess of casting out of the equation, works very well for him-Good luck
