These things are insane fighters. The 20” sheepshead was a stud. Lots of 14”ers. But we did scratch out a few legals.

That’s a bit of a bucket list fish for me. I’ve caught many other species in the Gulf/Florida but never a sheepie. Cool looking fish and I’ve heard they taste fantastic! Were you in Florida or somewhere else?

You can see how rough the walk can get in these pictures.

Those are the ones with human-looking teeth, right? We caught a few in FL a couple of years ago. That big one is a beast!

They are the walleye of the salt water. When I go to see my parents in FL we always get Sheep head and mangrove snapper in the bay.

    How do they taste.

Those fish are crazy, and getting the hooks out is crazy hard.

What is legal size for those? Never caught one. Fished with my buddy from Houston in the Gulf once and we caught trout (forget real name) and a ton of other things casting live shrimp. IT was a blast but my LORD was it hotttt!

Sorry for the late response. I haven’t been on in quite some time. Legalize depends on the state. Texas has really strict laws on certain species and lack laws on others. In Florida is vice versa. It’s almost as bad as Minnesota individual lakes. As far as she said. A big one is 20 to 23 inches. That’s a really big one. Probably 15 to 20 inches is what you wanna keep.

I had grilled grouper on the Gulf {Florida] and it was fantastic eating. I had grilled swordfish in San Fransico on the pier and it too was out of this world.

I’m broiling Halibut tomorrow for din din.
