I had a senior moment the other day and forgot to lower my Yamaha F150 before backing into the garage. Don’t know what got the worse of it the door or cowling but scuffed up the cowling. Can you bring this to an auto repair shop to get repainted or are there places that more specialize in painting this kind of thing? Thanks for any replies.

Had a Yamaha cowl painted around 16 years ago. The body shop in my town did it. Matched perfectly. Local sign shop did the decals. OE decals were crazy expensive.

I scuffed up a new Mercury cowling a few years back when I forgot to remove the ski pole before trimming the motor up (what an idiot). Took the cowling to a friend’s body shop and he had it wet sanded, buffed up and looking like new in 20 minutes. I’d start there before trying to paint it. Good luck.

Yamaha makes color matched spray paint. I have a can of it and it looks like I live near you. If it is something you want to try let me know. This matched a 2006 F150.

Thanks for the offer Grayghost. The cowling has a couple of deep scratches so think going to bring to auto body shop and see what they say.
