“This is about unity and love and growing together as a society, and starting a conversation around something that may be a little bit uncomfortable for people. But we’ve got to come together and talk about these things and grow as a community, as a connected group of individuals in our society, and we’re going to continue to show love and unity.”
-Aaron Rodgers
Sounds like snowflakes came early this year to Wisconsin
September 28, 2017 at 12:12 pm #1717617I heard what a big event this is going to be. My wish is that every single fan in the stands places their right hand over their heart while standing through the national anthem. That would be great. However Im sure no matter what happens the media will focus cameras only on the rows of people locking arms.

THAT DISRESPECTFUL, OVERPAID, LAZY, ATHLETE. HE IS DIRECTLY CALLING OUT AND SPITTING IN THE FACE OF ALL OUR VETERANS!
I for one will no longer watch the packers or buy any item/food of the color green and yellow. I urge all true patriots to do the same.
kabefisherman11Posts: 201September 28, 2017 at 4:57 pm #1717680Hey everyone can have an opinion and a point of view. If people want to stand and lock arms even trump has said that’s fine as long as people are standing for the anthem. My mother is as liberal as they come and when the 148th got deployed including my father u better bet ur a$$ we were out there waiving our flags. Spitting in the face is what those hippies did during Vietnam to those brave veterans who were just trying to do their duty. As far as I can tell if people want to bring attention to social justice issues of whatever they can do it. Lock arms or do what u want to as long as u stand for the national anthem.

Agreed, I’m really hoping that they stand and respect the Anthem and the flag. Also was wondering if they lock their arms together, how do they get their hats off?
September 28, 2017 at 6:08 pm #1717685I think most people agree locking arms standing is fine.
Still, as fans, what the heck are you standing in unity for? It’s become such nonsense. Like celebrities taking a knee. We all see through it being a self absorbed act.
September 28, 2017 at 7:27 pm #1717698The Packer fans came through!!!!! America first and keep politics out of football.

Exactly and it was sooo nice to see.
September 28, 2017 at 8:18 pm #1717714Anyone on this forum a Chicago Bears fan? Did they really beat the Steelers last Sunday? Bears making it look easy…for the Pack! End of 1st quarter. Lighting has just struck in the area. Game delay…
September 28, 2017 at 8:22 pm #1717716Just saw on my Twitter feed the fans chanted USA with hands over hearts.
Thank you Wisconsin!
September 28, 2017 at 8:24 pm #1717717It’s already over, Pack will win this hands down. Luckily just before I lost Internet service
September 28, 2017 at 8:33 pm #1717718I know this has been on the dreaded FB, but seems like a perfect pic for this post.

September 28, 2017 at 8:39 pm #1717721Hopefully the players get the message. Shut up and entertain us.
bigpikePosts: 6259September 28, 2017 at 8:47 pm #1717723I recall Collin Kapernick wearing socks that depicted cops as pigs last year. I find that disgusting. And people wonder why the guy can’t find a job? Please, anyone tell me why anyone would employ this guy who is supposedly making this holy stand.

Yippee…now can we just get back to football? This micro focus is not even on the game anymore. I am growing sick and tired of this “sensationalizing” of kneeling, not kneeling, arms locked standing, squatting? Respect, disrespect, freedom to protest, “rights”, Trumps “intrusions” on private business and on and on.
I have my values and beliefs and I don’t care anymore for those that disagree. Fine. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. They will not change mine and I will not change theirs.
No, I am not “boycotting” watching NFL football. Just because I may disagree or disapprove of some player actions or behaviors is not going to deprive my enjoyment of watching. There has been a long history of worse NFL player “indiscretions” or worse yet crimes that have been a dark cloud darkening the human element. Not exclusive to the NFL…
…college basketball scandal just now being revealed, oozing out of an infection that has been going on for some years.

riverrunsInactivePosts: 2218September 28, 2017 at 10:09 pm #1717733I turned down a free ticket to the game tonight. Could have gone but decided not to go. I don’t agree with the crap I hear about what’s going on with the disrespect.
I have no idea what the score is, and have no way to get the score. Our internet and cable don’t work.
Who the heck was the Dumb A__ that started this thread? I hope he gets internet soon.

Yep, I turned the game off when they did not throw the flag for wanton molesting of wild game. I think that was well into the first series in the 1st quarter.
September 28, 2017 at 10:56 pm #1717736Don’t get me wrong, this year will be the year of calls deciding games and injururies also that will eclipse previous seasons.
September 29, 2017 at 4:56 am #1717744Please, no spoilers today. I’m expecting the final score and highlights from the pony Express today…or tomorrow, depending on the weather.
September 29, 2017 at 7:01 am #1717763“According to numerous sources, and verified by IR.net, the US Government actually paid the NFL in order for them to bring players onto the field and stand for the national anthem during special ceremonies. Up until 2009, NFL players sometimes remained in their respective locker rooms, especially during prime time games, while the national anthem was played on the field. Then starting in 2010 this all changed, as players were required to come onto the field prior to the playing of the anthem, during every game, while the live television audience was able to see the players’ patriotism on display.
Starting in 2011 and continuing until 2014 the Department of Defense spent an estimated $5.4 million in contracts with 14 NFL teams for patriotic ‘flag ceremonies’. Additionally, from 2013 to 2015 the US National Guard also payed the NFL a staggering $6.7 million for similar flag ceremonies, basically giving the NFL incentive to get players to participate in such patriotic displays.”
I guess patriotism can be bought.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired!”
– Donald Trump
And sold
September 29, 2017 at 7:31 am #1717773I hope the NFL gives the money back then, like it has been doing with advertisers because they haven’t reached the minimum viewership.
philtickelsonInactiveMahtomedi, MNPosts: 1678September 29, 2017 at 8:54 am #1717789America, the only country in the world where kneeling for something can be interpreted as disrespectful.
Not putting your hand on your heart for the national anthem is disgraceful and disrespectful, all these players and fans should be fired. I’m interested in hearing everyone’s completely arbitrary reasoning on why kneeling is different/worse.
I kneel when I pray, guess that’s disrespectful to God? I should stand up when I pray?
Please help me, I’m getting lost in all the mental gymnastics it takes to equate kneeling to disrespect of our flag/military?
be the change you want to see…. get an education.
Hhahahahahahahahaha.
I turned down a free ticket to the game tonight. Could have gone but decided not to go. I don’t agree with the crap I hear about what’s going on with the disrespect.
There isn’t any disrespect happening, you just turned down free tickets for no reason, congrats!
I believe the term is hook line and sinker? Amazing such an ‘enlightened’ group could be brainwashed into thinking that any of these protests have anything to do with the flag or military.
“It’s uncomfortable for me to think about or admit that there is racial inequality in this country, so I will pretend that these guys are protesting our flag/anthem/military so that me and all my friends can continue to ignore any real problems that exist in this country. Why can’t they peacefully protest like all those ‘good people’ with nazi flags in Charlottesville”
