Multiple, multiple bad calls to give Green Bay the win. Seriously those two calls for hands to the face on Tre Flowers were enough to completely change the outcome alone. Cheap win for the Packers

Bad calls on both sides of the ball (like every NFL game).
How about forward progress not being called on the Lion’s TD in the first half when it was 4th and goal? That was 7 points literally handed to the Lion’s. One official said TD, another not. Seconds later the extra point was kicked, like it wasn’t even reviewed.
The last facemask was definitely a BS call, but didn’t make or break the game. It just turned a 30 something yarder into a 22 yarder.
Crosby would probably have made it either way.
Fun game to watch no matter who you rooted for. Far more entertaining than a 42-7 blowout.
The Packers are far from healthy and playing to their full potential……but the same can be said for a lot of teams.
The NFC North is a solid division all around. A lot of fun to watch.
October 14, 2019 at 10:32 pm #1884772Crosby would probably have made it either way.
That’s very true. Although I’m very surprised Patricia didn’t call timeouts prior to the 2-minute warning to give his team a chance to get the ball back.
blankPosts: 1767October 14, 2019 at 10:34 pm #1884773Both of those hands to the face were bad calls. The Packers also got away with a pass interference call on the last Lions drive, which I don’t know why it wasn’t reviewed.
October 14, 2019 at 10:40 pm #1884776Terrible officiating for sure, but the one thing worse than that was having to listen to Booger McFarland the entire game. How the heck did MNF land this clown.
tanglerInactivePosts: 812October 14, 2019 at 10:47 pm #1884777Terrible officiating both ways alllll game. The only thing more tiring than NFL refs is the pure laziness of fans and media who constantly try to boil a game down to 1 or 2 bad calls and declare that the loser got screwed by the refs. Please try harder.
Booger makes my ears bleed.

X2, you guys are making to much of the bad calls. Either way it’s a W for the Pack!!

I couldn’t agree more, that guy is the worst!! Almost unlistenable
October 15, 2019 at 7:52 am #1884821Normally I agree that a couple bad calls do not alter the outcome, or even if they do that is just the nature of the game.
Last night was different. Both of those hands to the face calls changed everything and they were both wrong. In the first one it would have been 4th and long (on a sack) and Packers punt. On the second one Packers would have made the FG yes, but would not have been able to run out the clock. HUGE difference
You Packers fans can rationalize all you want but that was total BS

Had those calls been in favor of your purple would you still be beating this dead horse? I seriously doubt it. In fact had it not been in favor of the Pack you might not be so upset at all.
B-manPosts: 5763October 15, 2019 at 8:06 am #1884831I wish you could hear all the Vikings fans at work this morning…..it’s hilarious.
They never whine about bad calls in other games, but the Packers get a couple that swing their way and it’s Armageddon
A sensitive bunch they are….jeez, worry about yourself. Like the Vikings have never had a bad call go in their favor??? Give me a break.

Exactly. That first call was a huge swing. A sack and punt to a first down and drive resulting in a TD.

To me, from an unbiased perspective, it doesn’t matter if it was the Lions or Packers who got screwed by bad calls. I couldn’t care less who wins between those two teams. The fact is the refs called the same penalty on the same guy twice, and neither one should have been called at all. And both times it had a significant impact on the game, in the fourth quarter of a close game. BS calls. I’d feel the same if it was the Vikings too.
martybPosts: 104October 15, 2019 at 8:33 am #1884843This game was officiating Karma from the Cowboys game last week. The Pack one that one too, so no one was complaining about it. Or maybe it was payback from that awful Seattle NFC Championship Fail Mary call.
October 15, 2019 at 8:37 am #1884844That game was so full of what ifs. Sometimes I wish they didn’t have so many cameras so everything is under a microscope.
October 15, 2019 at 8:40 am #1884847Just make a rule change that any penalty call can be reviewed, teams still only have the 2 review flags to throw (3 if their first two are correct) so it’s not going to change the pace of the game at all, but it allows a bad call to get corrected if its an obvious mistake (as in the two hands to the face calls last night) Timeout availability still would have an impact on if you can throw the flag or not, so those need to get managed wisely (not sure if that final could would even have been allowed to be challenged since Detroit burned all of their timeouts already?) That’s the gamble you take…
AnonymousInactivePosts: 0October 15, 2019 at 8:42 am #1884848There have been bad calls in every game since the beginning of sports. It is what it is. I watched a bit of the vikings game this week and they benefited from a few too. BIG DEAL!!
Or, do the refs really want GB to win, maybe because of the high profile QB?? Is the fix on?? Corruption?? Maybe congress should investigate the NFL. The more I think about it, the NFL is just about making money!!! They don’t even care about us!!! All they care about is money!!!!
In the famous words of Charlie Brown, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!
bigpikePosts: 6259buck-slayerPosts: 1499October 15, 2019 at 8:55 am #1884853Sometimes you get calls sometimes you don’t. I can go back to the Philly game where calls weren’t made. Happens every week.
blankPosts: 1767B-manPosts: 5763October 15, 2019 at 9:18 am #1884861You can go on YouTube and watch all sorts of complications of bad calls.
It’s nothing new.
There is also all sorts of bad lip reading going on in the NFL.
This is definitely worth your time to watch.
October 15, 2019 at 9:19 am #1884862Was this the bad call everyone is referring to?
A photo is capturing a split second moment. Watch that in real time and the hand slips right by in less than a second. Oh well, there was a non-call on GB with 13 men on the field. This however was for more than a second.
But whatever, it seems that fans have been screaming and demanding more scrutiny (replay reviews) and now that they’ve gotten it, they’re complaining even more.
Clearly the officiating has now placed the control of the game beyond the play on the field and I have no doubt there is favoritism happening.
It has made many games almost unwatchable.

October 15, 2019 at 9:22 am #1884865The refs/rules are making the game unwatchable. Besides the blatantly bad calls that seem to happen in every game, and yes do swing the outcome one way or the other, the overall volume of penalties totally destroys the flow and entertainment value of the game. They could call everything or nothing on nearly every play, and how they arbitrarily choose to do so results in this type of outrage every week. I’d get rid of replay altogether, or go 100% eye in the sky and have the central office watch each position so there is at least some consistency and chance to preemptively review these major calls that swing the game.

They were bad calls no doubt but please stop with the refs/NFL want the Packers to win. It is the smallest TV market by far so that makes no sense from a revenue standpoint. Should the Packers just have said we are sorry, we will decline the call to make it fair? Everyone gets bad calls in the course of a year. Packers got jobbed last year against the Vikes on the roughing the passer call on a pick that would have ended the game. Failed Mary, Rodgers getting his helmet basically ripped off his head on a turnover in a play-off game in AZ. It happens to every team.
October 15, 2019 at 12:14 pm #1884923jld, not to mention the Seahawks / Packer game where the Packers lost because a horrible call.
October 15, 2019 at 12:18 pm #1884925Like its been said over and over they could call a penalty for something on every play and its getting to seem like they almost do. Just always seems like what ever game you watch there is always penalties called on third and long. To often 5 yards auto first down on 3rd and 17 or something stupid and yes it bugs me when It goes the vikes way to. I like the penalties for the obvious helmet to helmet but they make millions to hit and get hit. Let them play the damn game get some flow back so I (yes me) can have a beer and enjoy watching football again.
DeucesPosts: 5224October 15, 2019 at 12:27 pm #1884929I don’t watch much football so perhaps someone can fill me in, but its interesting how everyone blames refs. Do these players just get away free from blame nowadays? If ya aint cheating ya aint trying mentality is killing many things in life including football.
Ref makes too many calls they get crapped on for calling everything and not letting em play, they don’t call stuff they get blamed for missing calls. Lose lose for them.
How about some more pressure on these PROFESSIONAL athletes to play good clean games that we would be proud to show our youth.
Maybe this belongs in the things I miss thread…..
October 15, 2019 at 1:12 pm #1884944Two thoughts. One-I hate the fact that they allow for review on pass interference, but almost never change the call even when it is obvious. If they aren’t going to over turn the calls, don’t allow for a challenge. Second-The blown call that kills me in this game is the helmet to helmet hit, then the DB was going for the ball and the receiver led into the play with his helmet. You can’t penalize a guy for trying to catch the ball. It was obvious the guy wasn’t going in there to knock the WR out, he was going for the ball. That play was a killer for the Lions as well.
Honestly, I know there are bad calls in all the games, I would just like to see less of the ticky tacky calls. Let them play a little. That and this is supposed to be an elite league, why are the refs not performing at an elite level?
