So if these guys are making stupid amounts of money, aren’t they getting paid to take these risks?
I guess it’s time for the NFL to become a flag football league…

I see in the paper tonight where kapperdick is suing the nfl because nobody will hire him. If he wins this suit flag football is likely to be a national sport. Now that Bridgewater has gotten the ok to return to practices and possibly back to the qb position in a couple weeks Minnesota is QB strong. Maybe GB would like to hire the Kap for a half season

Easy there Tom, Bridgewater hasn’t proven to be anything other then a middle tier quarterback. He will never be considered a franchise quarterback as much as some would like to believe he is.
I love old time football when there was no “player protection” or no such thing as concussions or IR or PUP or any other wussy excuses.
Here is Bart Starr with a concussion and a broken collarbone and a broken ankle. Getting picked up for the 2nd quarter. Broken body…but no “broken heart.”
Grim looking future for the Pack. They are a 4-5 win team without A Rodg. Meanwhile, the Vikes are on their 3rd string QB, without their best RB and one of their best WRs and without one of their better linemen yesterday and still got the job done.
How can anyone know at this point what sort of drop off there will be with Hundley. Maybe he’s better than the performance vs the Vikes showed. Keenum has turned out better than his 1st game this season indicated. I’m not counting the Pack out at this point at all, but I’m feeling much better about the Vikes chances to win the Division.

He’s calling out all the stool Pigeons. Dang internet is probably not working, and he’s still waiting for the score I’m assuming?

Have you seen the packers play defense? Have you seen the injuries to their offensive line? The only reason you have won any games in the last 10 years is because Rodgers can break out of the pocket and throw a bullet 30 yards deep across his body while under pressure. He’s the best at that ive ever seen. I saw Hundley throw a jump pass a la Tim Tebow where he jumped straight up in the air and then threw a pass, in the Vikings game. Your optimism is admirable but its over.
i’ve stayed outta this till now. so what say that this was reversed?????? say Matthews did that to Kennam??????? now what would you think??????
i heard on the radio this morning apparently back a while Jack Lambert was critisized for some hit he made. his comment was if you dont like it but a dress on!!!!!!!!!
Watch a few videos of Cam Newton getting hammered and no calls.
The guy in GoatBay scrambles all over the field with ball and makes uncanny throws for touchdowns. He will takeoff downfield and gain 1st down yards or score touchdowns with his running.
Now the little winier over in GoatBay is crying fowl because he gets tackled like every other QB in the league.
He earns Eryn every time he flaps his jaw.

Matthews goes right at the QBs knees every time I see him play. IMO, he is one of the dirtiest players out there.

x2 even if Rodgers wasn’t hurt this version of the pack would struggle, imo. Without Houdini #12 they are in BIG trouble. They are down to about #6 on the depth chart at tackle, and their secondary lost 4 guys. No team can win without their starting QB, a 2nd/3rd string offensive line, and 3 string DB’s (+ HaHa Clinton-Dix). Those are the 3 most important area’s in the NFL today.
Unfortunately Hundley was a 1st round prospect that slipped just like Arodge. He will be ok but no miracle maker like #12. Maybe he takes the job for good and Arodge will wear purple next year? This is a next man up league so Hundley needs to step up.

They are getting paid to be in the top .0001% of something in the world. Anyone who is in that upper upper echelon of just about anything is getting paid well to be there, athletes, doctors, lawyers, bankers, stock traders, etc.
They are getting paid to play football, but people are tuning in to watch Aaron Rodgers, not Hundley. Which is why it boggles my mind when people object to rules trying to protect players from injury.

Yeah! Here’s one of my favorites, Junior Seau! I remember watching him growing up, what a player! He never backed down!
I personally think the best part of watching players get concussed on the field is the drastically reduced lifespan and early deaths we get to witness. Seau had like three or four kids, awesome!
All this crap about trying to protect players, it’s so stupid. Let these guys hit helmet to helmet, they are after all only alive for my personal entertainment.
Why did all the great Roman coliseum fights and the challenges disappear ? It turns out, people got maimed and killed doing it… how long until this is figured out in the NFL ??? (as long as some can make ca$h, it continues.. players and owners)

Phil, evidently you did not pick up the sarcasm in my post.
Do you watch football?
The day may very will come when the NFL bludgeons itself out of the game as we know it today. Even now, we are seeing 2nd and 3rd string replacements and the season isn’t even half over.
What are you trying to say? Lot of these injuries are cause and effect with no malicious intent.
Watch a few videos of Cam Newton getting hammered and no calls
K ind of a bad example. Newton is knowned to be a tough runner when he pulls the ball down and run. Now were asking our players to pull up even while knowing chances are this guy may keep going. So the advantage goes to the quarterback. Do we throw in a rule like in the grasp saying if a player pulls up the play stops there?
The other bad example Newton is a classless piece of work and even I want tee off on him. The league has given him so much leeyway on his showboating and tuanting its sick.

Does Newton showboat and taunt more than Rodgers? Both are effective runners, just different style. Both are a little over the top with their celebrations instead of acting like they have been there.
YES! Is my answer. I don’t think Rogers is classless nor as blatant as newton with his actions.

So now your saying the rules should only apply to who we like and who we don’t,
and who’s tougher to tackle.
Incredible!!!!

Packers’ McCarthy says hit on Aaron Rodgers was ‘an illegal act’
(Via KARE 11)
I go back and forth on the Treadwell hit. Apparently, you cant hit them in the head of shoulder region, so you should aim for the knees and risk a concussion from a knee to the head? Is that any safer for the defender to take out his knees vs putting a shoulder into his chest? The only reason it was a blind side was that he had his head turned to the left, if he had been looking forward, then it would have been legal? I don’t see how you are suppose to block this guy and protect yourself if you are Treadwell. Plus, this wasn’t an away from the play cheap shot, this happened right where the action was.
In terms of the Treadwell hit, what they teach a player to do now is to just get in the way, kind of like setting a pick in basketball. Here are some other examples where these hits are being scrutinized and ruled out of the game via penalty:
1) WR crackbacks on DE on basic sweep plays. A few years back they cleaned up the low hits on these plays, now they are teaching to just ‘get in the way’.
2) Crackbacks on punt and kick returns
3) Any head/shoulder hits on a receiver who is focused on catching the ball.
The rules are now written to say defenseless player is someone who’s attention and line of sight are focused away from the hit. As an official who’s worked now for 25 years, it is tough to make these calls. Hits we once enjoyed seeing in the game are now way, way illegal and will get you in a ton of trouble for not calling.
But IMO they do make the game safer and minimize the chances for these long term brain injuries.
