I was reading Marty Hahn’s Guide page the other day and it made so much sense.
10% of the water hold 90% of the fish it’s said. Well I’m not sure that holds true for rivers, but with that thought in mind FBRM and I headed out of Everts to look for some fish.
We made one drift of maybe 100 feet. In that 100 feet there were walleyes in about 25 to 50 feet. Notice the rock to sand transition.
Andy notice a nice looking school of fish on his bird but once we dropped the camera down and found out it was a herd of carp we moved on.
The following video was not taken at the dam. The plan was to record in that area but I experiance operator error (loose cable connector) in using a Marcum Lx-9. I didn’t figure that out until I was back in the camper. <doah>
Couple of things I noticed. Most people were fishing in the middle of the river and they didn’t seem to be having very good luck.
The other thing I noticed that was different this year is the two WI side rollers were low with water going over the top of them and the other two on the MN side were high with water going over the top. There was a stronger current on the MN side although it looked like it was stronger on the WI side.
What does this mean? Might want to try looking for fish in other non-traditional locations.
