I’m thinking cabin fever has set in. Warm weekend everyone get the boat out!

Lol! Well said TA. Mcquade harbor is open now. Time to chase some silvers and trout.

Sometimes I throw firecrackers onto my front lawn to scare a squirrel off of the bird feeder. If that doesn’t work, I’ll soank them with a BB gun. If that doesn’t work, I kill the individual. True story.

I’ve fished P4 with bullcans in his boat. It took me 18 minutes to walk from bow to stern… wave Let me know the next time you have an empty seat Ken, we’ll talk about Dak Prescott!

were buying new rods, new reels, etc almost constantly. It wasn’t like they were wearing them out, so what gives?

I am about 8 reels short after this past year.

Can you ask these guys to donate to those who do wear gear out regularly?

My best day last year was 2 hours of fishing and breaking an Abu 7000 and a Revo Toro winch… Quick $500

Only broke two winches last year doah!

    I think I have easily 15-20 rods without a reel right now…. Donations ;)

Well, I’m a little surprised. All you guys are good guys and I sure didn’t expect any of you to be at each others throats.

Live, Laugh, Love… depending on the day, the order changes. ;)

Personally I didn’t see anything wrong the BC’s post. Whether right or wrong, it’s one persons view point.

It’s funny you guys mention envy. Every dang time I boat by Treasure Island Marina I ask who ever is in the boat with me, “where did I make the wrong turn in life”. Not that I would really want one, but if it wouldn’t take food out of Woody’s dog dish…I would have one. Mostly because I can.

Bank fishing when I was in grade school, wader fishing when I could fit into them, float tube when I could afford the $180. then on to a 3 hp Johnson and a rental boat at Hubs.

Not to long after that, the father in laws 14 footer and I moved into a 6 hp.

Moved to the St Croix and found myself the a 17′ Lund with a 90.

In about a month (if Dean Marshall can find a sharp pencil) I’ll have a second float that’s a fish and ski. I’m saying it’s for the granddaughter and I’m sticking to that story Fraud. )

When I left the resort this morning there were 12 rigs on the beach and more coming down the hill. Bait shop opens at 6:30. I have no clue if the fish are biting but it’s too nice of a day to be sitting on line unless you’re like me. Stuck.

Going to Baypoint Steak House tonight about 4:30- 5pm.

I heard my FW is buying Idoer’s their first beer. No, they don’t have Hamm’s.

You can’t compress a day of fishing into 1 hour of available time, but you CAN use that hour to go on the interweb and order a new do-dad for fishing.

I like that in today’s world you can go fishing with that hour and order a new rod at the same time… beep beep boop. yay

Andy, you must have one ell of a Rod Index (RI). I limit myself to 10 rods + my dad’s rods that just sit there. I buy one, I sell one normally for the price the FW thinks I paid for it. )

I know some guys with boats so nice they wont take them out of the garage 360 days a year.

I could have afforded newer or bigger, but I am having lots of fun in my 15″ boat and don’t care if it gets dirty.

I know a few others in this post thought you were being critical too. Perhaps you could improve your writing so no misunderstandings happen. Oh, your offer to meet sure was sweet. Veiled physical threat or did I misread that too?

Unfortunately there is one in every crowd that likes to put a different spin on a simple statement that was made and that 99% picked up on it and appreciated it with “good ‘ole memories” That’s all the post was intent ended to be for. The fact that you had to take it to a different level shows me that “You” actually may be the threat here. Leave it alone, sleep it off, and re-read all the posts again tomorrow when you’ve got a better handle on reality.

Exactly how I took it. Great post Bull Cans

This thread reminds me of the day a got to Lillydale with me 14ft with a 15hp motor on it at 6AM expecting to see no one there. When I get to the ramp the local Ranger boat club must have been there as there were close to a dozen rangers waiting to launch. I had a little boat envy that day.

Nice guys they let me cut in line to launch.

Got a bigger boat river boat now but still love all the boats I have ever fished. I have a hard time getting rid of boats and motors still have my old 3hp and 9.5 Johnsons and a different 14 ft.

At one time we had a 3/4 HP air cooled motor called a “Mighty Mite” now that was slow.

The scratcher that is a good one.

Everyone can get what they can afford. Friend of mine bought 4 brand new pick-ups last year, Ram, Ford, Chevy, and a Ford. He also traded his 3 year old Ranger Reata in, 20 hours on the motor, for a 620 Ranger with a 250 E-Tech, 1.7 hours on the motor. You guessed it, he didn’t like it, and a month ago sold or traded it in for a Lund Impact. If you can afford it,go for it. I just wish I could get him out fishing more. He enjoys new things.

If a guy thinks he’s catching more fish with all the bells and whistles then go it, if the guys with the desire and money want a nicer boat and if it helps him catch more fish when he’s able to go then its good. Some guys only get to fish a few times a month in a year or even less, and if they bring home more fish then its ok. The guys that are on the water more and I could be wrong seem to learn the water more from day to day and week to be able to know what its doing and have learned to figure out the bite at those times seem to use their equipment less, I know I use my finder less except for water depth, but that’s the water here.

Its also what bodies of water do they fish, big bodies or smaller bodies where its easier to find the fish or do they have to hunt for an hour for a school and hope their active. Don’t get me wrong its exciting to go over a brush pile down 9′ and see the alarm go off and be able to see how many fish are there, depth finders help me to find a brush pile that has fish on it instead of fishing one where it doesn’t. So my halfway educated conclusion is if it floats and can get you to a spot then good, if it has a depth/fish finder then that’s even better and if it doesn’t have any paint on it or glitters in the sun both are useful. Mine is just a plain Jon boat that I beat up a little more each year because of the type of fishing I do, it won’t work well most of the time on lake Michigan or cut the waves on a larger river but for this area it serves me very well. So I guess in hindsite it depends on what you use it for, how much you want and can use it if the times limited or not, what type of fishing a guy does and how fast the guy needs to find fish for a more productive outing, to be able to take a few home to eat. We all could probably eventually find fish blindfolded but may get hungry doing it so they all get you to where the fish are then its up to the guy to catch them using his know how and savy.

some of these guys in their junky old boats are like walleye savants. You fly by and see them on some spot and are like, wtf why are they there. they always get their fish though.

down here, if you fish enough, you know most of the regulars for the most part. every once in a while there is that old duck boat of guys that run up on you and get up all in your business.

my pro v is 25 yrs old and had dock rash like a mother. i spent my money on electronics. it does its job.

Is it allowable to have three Boats to use, depending on the situation?
Sometimes I leave the shiny one home, sometimes I just row.
As a long time tradesman I have found that it is important to have the right tool for the job at hand. I don’t think fishing or hunting are much different.
It’s all about having the right tools at the right time.

AWESOME!!!! You don’t know how many times my buddy or I have yelled out “THE SCRATCHA!” as we’ve seen you cruise by (slowly). Hah, hah!

Glad your new boat will keep the venerable SCRATCHER name. If I see you out, I will have to say hi, and maybe have you autograph my fishing hat or something.

    FISH IT UP, boys.

I think some of you guys are full of it!! I personally like being more comfortable, getting there faster, and be able to move around in my bigger glass boat. I’m older now and have done it in a little tin can, wishing I have what others had! Now 20 years later I do have it and would NOT go back. And yes, I’m the one be laughed at for pulling that boat with a 20 year old truck.. I’m also not afraid of getting it dirty.
