It seems to me that the average age of boat engines on P2 is considerably older than I see on P3, P4, or the St. Croix. Hence, I think it’s more likely to find boats that need towing on P2 than other stretches of the rivers.
Not exactly a “towed a boat” story, but about 15 years ago I tried to launch my 16 ft. Alumacraft Lunker with my front wheel drive Dodge Intrepid in late winter at Lions Levee in St. Paul Park. I got the boat off the trailer and into the water just fine but couldn’t get the car back up the icy ramp. This was before first light and luckily for me, an older guy had driven down to the ramp and parked there just watch the sunrise. He gave me a ride home and wouldn’t take anything for helping me out. Then I had to wait until I saw that my neighbor was up and he was nice enough to tow the car and boat up the ramp. So I ended up owing a stranger and my neighbor a big thanks.
Earlier this year on P3 I had a guy wave me down on P3 south of Prescott. He told me he had a dead battery. He knew he had a weak battery so he brought a set of jumper cables with him.
