The big Walleyes on P2 are finally really going with the colder water temps and dropping water flows. We recently stood at the landing and debated going after seeing huge icebergs floating in the main river channel. We convinced ourselves the limited fishing pressure, changing barometric pressures with the upcoming storm, and colder water temps would really have the Walleyes going. We reluctantly decided to navigate the icebergs and boy were we rewarded big time…
All the typical late Fall patterns produced including wingdams, current breaks, and rock piles. Our top lures were B Fish-n-Tackle Moxies, ringers, and even hair jigs produced some nice fish. Every place we fished (except one) produced fish. In many cases, lots of fish. We even had the fish counter going but stopped at 30 after just a couple hours. Our fingers were too cold unhooking fish to continue clicking the counter. Average size was really good with lots of 24″ up to 29″ fish.
Best part was we were the only boat out and had the entire river to ourselves.
