Posted this in another forum, but wanted to get insight form this group. My 2022 Polaris Sportsman 570 Premium should be here in about a month. I have preordered the winch, blade, auger mounts/grips, hand warmers,Hand shields, windshield, trickle charger, And tire chains.

    Any recommendations on:

    1. Rear storage/second seat back (I’m aware of laws in various states).

    2. helmets

    3. Anything else?

Otter monster box on the rear, home made storage rack made by a good friend on the front. Also has rod, auger and electronics and bait storage up front.

    Pick up one of these.
Engel 7.5 Qt Live Bait Cooler

Figure out a good spot to mount your Navigational electronics.

I always carry a spud bar.

I have a 7.5 Engel bait cooler. Planning to get a Ram mount for the phone/gps.

Leaning towards the otter monster box. Still good for a second rider? Install easily on a sportsman 570?

Phone out in the cold on a ram mout is not a good idea. I switched over to using my garmin when on atv. I got rid of that crappy Engle and went back to a 5 gallon with lid. I also haven’t bought the monster box yet but I really want to

Phone batteries suck in the cold. I have a stand alone lowrance head unit and a garmin 64 both mounted on the handlebars. If your dead set on using your phone, elastic a hand warmer to the back of it.

As long as your atv is a 2up. On my grizzly, I’m standing if i have to have a second person on it.

If you don’t do a rear storage box, at least get a rack extension. They’re nice for strapping your gear down.

    Send you a PM also.

My can am 570 max xt 2 up is supposed to be be shipped this week I added everything you mentioned plus a 4” front rack extension and a 6” rear extension a travel cover to help keep the salt off. Also going with a rear receiver hitch for pulling the Zack shack. In Wi. They started ticketing people riding double on a ATV that is not made for two people so that’s why I’m going with a 2 up machine.

Are you setting it up for fishing only? Any use out west/mountains? I go to a lot of remote places and can easily be 15 to 30
    Miles from my truck.

I have two batteries in parallel and added additional power connections

Added led light bars and switches at handle bar.

Added a true dry box that I keep essential items when I’m caught in storms

I put a “false bottom” in my rear box to keep extra tow strap, bungee cords, and a few ratchet straps and can of fix/flat. EXTRA GLOVES and small hand saw

I have a quick release windshield and the standard garmin mount for my gps didn’t work well. So I have a small ram mount on the handlebars.

I also made a quick release plate that attaches to my front rack and extends back to accommodate my large ram mount for my h/bird 1198 and other accessories

I hate the fixed brackets for my gun cases. Bought the adjustable and made a quick release for the rear rack.

I don’t know if ATV’s come with the standard metal rack up front and on back anymore but if yours does, I’d remove them, and apply a “rhino liner” type paint. My buddy bought an ATV (applied herculiner) around the same year I did and his racks still look flawless…mine are chipped and rusty.

I am mainly going to use it ice fishing, not planning much trail riding.

Not easy getting on/off an atv with a rider on back and ice cleats…guessing otter box won’t help that situation much.

Gotta agree. Honda Rancher 400. I have a Lowrance Elite 7 on a RAM mount for navigation on front rack. Everything else goes in the Otter flip over and gets towed. Getting a large Otter sled to use when pulling my Otter Hub this year.

Chains on all 4 tires and a shovel go on every trip out. Passenger sits on rear rack facing back to keep an eye on the gear. Take it slow and easy.

    Good luck,

Otter Monster Box is worth the investment if you fully utilize it with the rod box and bucket holder/auger holder/fuel holder side attachments. They can be a pita to find though…

I only keep my auger on the front rack with a Digger mount to maintain good visibility while driving…

Has anyone ran tracks on a Honda 420 Rancher? Just wondering how they do on the lakes in the winter. May also be used to plow snow.

Tracks are very hard on front ends. FYI.

is it a 2up? if not, you might get a ticket for riding 2 depending on where you live. Get a trail pass/state registration too if you don’t have it already

No, it is not a 2 up. Not planning to trail ride, mainly ice fishing and move snow. If the SD/IA/MN enforcement folks start ticketing for a passenger on an ATV during ice season I’ll figure something out. Seems safer on the back of an atv then in a trailer or in the flip shanty behind an ATV, using common sense of course.
