We have a hot tub at the cabin we have never used and was thinking of replacing it with a woodfired pizza oven/fireplace kit.
Anyone have one that they would recommend?

    Anyone want a hot tub?

Something about the way you worded this just made me laugh out loud! I don’t have any suggestions or need a hot tub – I just wanted to say that. 🙂

Have you considered a pellet grill? I make pizza on mine all the time.

I use the Camp Chef Artisan oven that goes on top of my Camp chef camp stove. Does a nice job on pizza but I’m not a pizza connisouer by any means. Pizza is more of a half in the drunk bag I’m hungry at midnight type food so a decent frozen pizza works for me. The oven does a great job on cinnamon rolls in the morning or anything else you can put in a oven.

I want the pizza oven/fireplace more for the fireplace.

Were is the hot tub? I’m on the NE corner of Mille lacs…that would be its resting place.

Is a pizza oven/fireplace kit a thing or you meant one or the other? They don’t really go together unless you are thinking the real expensive clay fire pits.

Are you thinking about something like this?

We made our own kettle pizzas here at work.

They do make the best pizzas I’ve had.

Temps get up to around 700 degrees. A pizza is done in about 4 minutes.

When you guys are doing pizzas on the Weber do you go straight on the grate, or on a pizza stone?

Koldfront, Yes with a fireplace down below and I actually looked on that site.

Waldo, I pre-heat a stone on the grill first then toss the pizza on.

I go with a stone on my Weber. Those “Kettle Pizza” contraptions look cool, but mine turn out fine without, too.

The one time I tried it I preheated the stone, and by the time the pizza was done the crust was..well…dark.

I use this porcelain enamel pizza pan from menards. I have 3 of them and they work fantastic in the oven or on the grill.

Probably used direct heat. If using coals, I’d go indirect with a stone. On my gas grill, Papa Murphy’s on the paper, on a stone works great even with direct heat because I can keep it at 425 – 450 like the directions indicate for oven baking.

I put the coals in a ring around the perimeter of the grill.

Think really hard about how much you’d use it. I thought about building one in my backyard but then realized that by the time you heat it up, that’s a lot of time and work to make a pizza. I know that time slows down at the cabin and you may have time for it, but I’d think that you’d only end up using it a lot if you had a big crowd over. And in that case, aren’t you just grilling or smoking instead?

Build a nice outdoor fireplace and install an outlet nearby to plug in a pizzazz.

You might consider one of these. We have one at the lake and it makes awesome pizzas. I’ve been on the brick oven fence too and this has been a great alternative and probably a 10th the cost, depending how all-out you’d wanna go.

What about building a fire ring with an opening on the side to push the hot embers/wood into a pizza oven from the bottom. I played with the same idea but with a grill.

Brinkman makes a high temp pizza stone for grills. The last time I bought one they were around $14.00
