Outboard Throttle Cable Length Adjustment

Hi. Looking to have my throttle cables adjusted for length back at the transom where they enter the outboard. They are a bit long and get in the way when trimming fully up. Bought the boat this way and would like to have this area of cabling cleaned up. Also need to replace the rubber grommet that holds/guides all cabling into the outboard. Not having much luck with boat shops in the greater Twin Cities Metro area as most are only servicing boats sold from their business. Any shop recommendations? Motor is 2004 Mercury 115 EFI 4-Stroke

    Thanks.

What you’re asking isn’t too hard to do yourself. You could probably pull some cable back in under your gunwale where it’s hidden, or if you’re ambitious install shorter cables. For the boot, just buy a new one and slice it, hide the slice under all the cables and stitch/zip tie it back together. It would be a ton of work to unhook-rehook everything back together for a new whole boot.

If you’re not up for the work, try calling some marinas that aren’t dealers. Countryview marina between Stacy and North Branch would likely be able to help, along with many others
