I’m kicking around the idea of getting one of these for the pontoon. They come in 55,80 and 101 pound models. I think it would be nice for fishing obviously but also for quiet evening cocktail cruises.
Anyone use one or have any feedback?

Thanks, I’ll hang up and listen.

I don’t own one but have fished out of a boat many times that has one. I really like them. I think the only concern for you would be whether or not your motor sits deep enough in the water.

    That’s my concern as well.
Is your friends on a pontoon? If so do you know how many LB’s of thrust it was?
    Thanks DT

It sounds like a pretty slick deal.

I think Jon Jordan has one. If I remember correctly, he claims that they’re slick as snot on a glass boat that sits low in the water but might not be as great if your boat’s not a low-rider, so maybe it might not work that well on a ‘toon. The motors on the pontoons that I frequent sit quite high in the water.

There’s a couple that has a cabin down the shore from us that has a little, 2-person pontoon with an electric motor on it. I see them taking silent evening cruises with their trusty yellow lab all the time. It looks great!

Yeah, I’m afraid it probably won’t work on the pontoon. I’m putting it in this weekend so will do some measuring.
    Never know.

It’d be slick if it’ll work!

I have the EM80 – 24 volt 80 pound thrust on my Ranger. Get a lot of use out of this motor. You will need 16 inches of water above your cavitation plate.

I’m thinking a bow mount is probably a better pick for a pontoon. Hook that up with a Co-Pilot steer from anywhere in the boat.

    Good luck,

    -J.

I agree Jon. I have a plug in at the bow and the half gate and could put a slide mount on. Not the preferred route but will do the trick!

    Thanks for the replies guys!
