Got a great tip for a lake up that way but would like a plan “B”-can never seem to stay with one lake. We will be fishing for panfish, also like to catch Tullies. We are driving or walking (no ATV) so we need a road or a spot close to a access-thanks

star lake comes to mind. Great panfish. Be aware there is a special limit on panfish. Late in the season the tullies bite well. A fair amount of spots to park on the road and walk out. One of the better spots is a short walk from the road and there are good pan fish spots close by as well

Great tip! Did not see much for roads on the DNR sit except for Gasink rd. on the west side-other details? depths etc.-This could be our plan B.

A lot of snow on otter tail. Basically plowed roads only. Going off trail you need tracks ect. Most lakes in the area seemed to be the same. Lots of hard drifted snow

Thanks Andrew, not what I wanted to hear-Otter Tail should have some plowed roads though right?

Yes more as we left today but still hard to get off the plowed roads though. This next storm and wind could fill it in. I’m sure if we don’t get much snow and wind that you maybe able to get around better then.

    Hey guys.

I am from down 20 Miles south of Rochester, MN and have a trip planned for this upcoming weekend to stay at our family’s cabin near Battle Lake and do some ice fishing on Friday and Saturday. I’m not very accustomed to ice fishing in this area. Most trips I take are usually guided out of Mille Lacs, Red Lake, Lake of the Woods, ect. This would be a first for me in this area and am not sure what lakes to be at and what fish to be targeting. Mostly a Walleye and Crappie angler but am open to anything as this would be my fist time ice fishing in the Alexandria Area. If I could get some input on what your thoughts are regarding species, lakes, depths, ect., It would really be appreciated.

    Thanks

We just got 4 in of snow last nite and 4-6 more forecast for tonite/tomorrow. Unless you have tracks or chains you are probably at the mercy of someone plowing a road to their fish house. The drifts are high and hard. Walleye’s have slowed but panfish are picking up on most lakes around here. Good Luck
