Otter XTH Resort

I just purchased a new XTH Pro Resort, this is my first hub style house. I just set
it up in my garage for the first time this afternoon. Was this house supposed to
come with the anchor tie down kit? I thought that was listed in the details online.
Mine did not come with it. I also noticed when trying to zip up one of the doors
that the zipper on the bottom side was not double stitched for about 10”. There is a lot of pressure on the zipper and I would be afraid
that it would pull away in the near future since it is not stitched like the rest of
    the shelter.

Is it also necessary to have to push a wall in to get the doors zipped back up?
This was the only way that I was able to get both of the doors zipped, and once
zipped, I tried to pull the last wall out that I had to push in to zip the door and
once that was done the opposite side popped back in, then I went around to the other
side and pulled it out then the other side did the same thing and so on until I just
collapsed the roof and started over again. After about 10-15 minutes (I am sure it was comical as all get out), I was able to
get all the sides to stay popped out until I wanted to zip the doors back shut. Is
    this normal?

They should come with an anchor tie down kit & storage bag, i would definitely contact otter and see if they will replace your missing items. The Hub houses I’ve fished out of have had a very tight fit, however not sure we have ever needed to “push” a side in to get the door zipped shut. My guess is if you set the house up and take it down a few times some of these kinks will work them selves out.

I own the Clam 6-pack thermal. What i found useful to help with the doors I make sure the house is sitting correctly. It is kind of hard to explain but after you pull out all the sides and the roof go around the house form the inside and push up on all the corners, that way the house will fix it self to sit flatter on the ground which could loosen up some tension on the doors. Usually I find that 1 door is always kind of a pain to use so i take a quick second to figure that out and then close that door and only use one for entry and exit. I also usually fish with more people so using only 1 door has its advantages and disadvantages. Hopefully that helps a little bit.

honestly, it doesn’t sound to me like things are operating as normal. you should contact otter. if you’re in MN, their factory is in Maple Lake.

Thanks for the info guys! I have contacted Otter about this and hope to hear back soon. Here are some photos of what I am talking about. You will notice the hub rods and how they sit when the doors are shut. And when I can get it zipped the bottom zipper on each door skips teeth. I don’t believe that will be good or last long.

That’s a bummer. I’m calling them tomorrow too. I got my resort delivered today and I went to pop it up and one of the hubs is missing the cap and bolt, allowing the rods to side out of place and thus not popping out. Hopefully there isn’t any other defects with it. I didn’t want to monkey with it,so I put it away for now.

That’s unfortunate. Mine was built perfectly and worked great before I sold it on here.

I would contact them for a replacement. They take care of their customers. Send them a link to this page to ensure perfect customer service. whistling

Definitely an OOOPS with the zipper sewing. I’d be returning it.

It didn’t really show well before, but you can see in this photo that the bottom pole is actually bent inwards and not pushing out on the wall when the the door is zipped shut. You can also see the strain on the zipper with light showing through the circled area. This is the same on both doors. If you slightly touch either wall (with doors) at all they will pop in, and if you were to anchor the wall (which I did not get any anchors), you would not be able to zip the door shut.

I think I will return this shelter to the store where I bought it and keep looking for something better. I have only owned Clam suitcase styles before and so far not impressed with the hub design. Tub shelters are just too heavy and not roomy enough for my family. I would need two of them and then the transporting and just the cost for 2 decent ones is out of my reach at the moment.

I also took delivery of a new XTH Pro Resort yesterday complete with storage bag & 12 ice anchors. I set it up in my garage (heated around 60 degrees) and gave it a good look over. No issues with setup and the doors/zippers worked well. I did my best to look over the stitching on the seams & corners all of which seemed to be done well. All the poles and hubs are in good shape and pop in & out nicely. Storage netting and pockets on 4 of the walls are nice and will definitely get used. My only complaint and its a minor one is the removable windows which line up horribly with the velcro on the hub itself. When i have a little time i will most likely remove the velcro from the plastic windows, cut them down to the correct size and re-attach the velcro myself. Only time will tell how everything holds up but overall I’m happy with the purchase!

Update: Well I got the replacement today. I set it up in the garage this evening and everything looked
great and the doors zipped shut and the walls stayed put. That was until I noticed the pockets in the lower corner where the fiberglass rods set into. Should they look like this? All but 2 of them so that is 10 out of 12 look like they have frayed and split down lower than the 2 that have the edges melted to keep them from fraying? Really starting to question the quality of this shelter and if these will continue to tear downwards. First photo is one of the good ones and the second photo is what the frayed ones look like.

I just bought a new one and noticed the same thing. Thread s hanging everywhere and a few kinks in one of the zippers. I had last year’s model cabin that was a pain to zipper up also. Maybe I’m expecting too much. My cottage is A+ quality but can’t say the same for the hubs

I had my otter resort up on red lake earlier this week two days in 20+ mph wind and i was very happy with how it held up against the wind. The extra straps on the corners helped a ton being there was no snow on the lake to help bank the house. while the inside corners of my house did not look like yours ib_jigged, i did have a few threads hanging here and there… i just used a lighter and melted them down to where they shouldn’t be an issue.
