Hey guys, new to the forum here and just bought an otter xt1200 resort. I haven’t had time to take it out and use it yet but was wondering how hard this is going to be to pull out on the ice on foot. I will be up on leech for 12 days and want to know what I am getting myself into.

Google smitty sled. Make one!! Will be effortless compared to what your in for. The lodge is a big heavy house put on top of the smitty way less drag. Get a couple down hill skis or cross country skis and make one. Good luck

Do you have horses or brahma bulls you can borrow? ) Kidding aside, it’s the largest sled Otter makes and also the heaviest. You’d be OK till it snows, but afterwards you’ll need an ATV or snowmobile. It’s designed to be pulled in that manner. The space in that thing is great!

Haha no horses, I don’t have a snowmobile or atv either. Looking to have a 4 wheeler next year though. Hopefully it doesn’t snow for a while then.

The good news is that you’ve got the house all other shacks grow up wanting to be!

My brother and I pull on our lodge all day with full tackle in 6″ of snow. Anything more is in question. I would guess the resort will be much harder. Im glad i didn’t get the resort as the lodge barely fits my truck.

Look at the clam sled pulling harness.

Thanks for all the help guys. At least I have some options to choose from to help out a little. There are usually two of us to pull it out so that should help too. I got the resort because it shows that it is only 20 lbs heavier than the lodge and didn’t think that would make much of a difference. How well do the hyfax kits work?

Hyfax kits are the cheapest insurance you can get, Esp if motorized transport is in your future. They also make it easier to pull by hand.
