Looking for some input from anyone who has the Otter XT Hideout 1 man shack. Can the seat be removed and use a pail to save on the weight when pulling by hand? Is there enough room to fish two holes. Overall how satisfied or well do you like it? Would appreciate any info as there is no store close to me that has any to look at in person.

    Thanks

they are very nice! more than enough room for 2 holes! and the seat is so nice you would not want to remove it however it would be very difficult to pull out the seat I have a clam keni and got my buddy to switch with me to try out his xt and it was way nicer!

This thing rocks for a 1 man. It’s light and easy to load in/ load out. More than enough fishing room for 2 holes, little buddy heater, and LX-7. The only thing I did wrong was when assembling the shack and attaching the shell, I had all of the wind poles in when fully screwing the shell to the sled. Now when I flip over the shack with no wind poles installed, there is a gap in the front at the bottom. I will adjust this summer. You can take the seat out, but you cannot sit on the seat when it is removed. Picture a very light boat swivel seat. Very nice windows, zippers and shell material. Overall the best I have seen so far.

I asked the same question a couple weeks in a post and a few guys said they wished it had some kind skirting to keep the draft out which came through from the backside

I’m interested in possibly getting one but want to wait and see if they put skirting on next years models first

I have one and have been able to use it a little since getting it. I got the extra skirts from Otter for it which help a little but you still have the draft problem if it’s windy and you like putting your back to the wind. Maybe I’m just spoiled from using my Cottage with that wind flap there isn’t any draft. But besides that the shack is awesome and the seat is way more comfortable than it looks. They don’t make a specific high fax kit for it which I’d like since we run into dragging over parking lots and gravel around here quite often and that will chew up a sled fast. Otter told me I could use the Cottage kit and cut it down to fit. I think you’d be real pleased.
