Putting the cabin together and I’m not sure about the inside edge . The instructions are a little vague on this spot . If I screw these trim locks in will it screw me when I collapse it into the sled ?

The tent will meet in the middle and should be free to open and close so it can be removed? Say what ?

What the picture is referencing is that the two velcro backed pieces meet in the middle and you are able to remove it in case you want to take the outer shell completely off in the offseason.
January 8, 2021 at 11:25 am #2004223If you don’t screw that in it will fall off, I know from experience. Mine is screwed in using the included hardware just like the rear side canvas. A good friend of mine approached his differently, drilled through holes on everything and used stainless bolts with acorn nuts all the way around so it can be removed one day.
When you collapse the sled you have to fold the apron up and tuck it in under the seat brackets to keep it from dragging. Not the greatest design on the market but it works fine. I’m on my second Otter Cabin and they are tanks, only sold the 1st one to upgrade to the X-over.

Yeah that’s why I tried to avoid it at first. Hate putting holes in anything if I can avoid it!

Admittedly I dont have an X-over, but mine is not screwed in on the front and hasnt popped off. Now as I type this two of my buddies do have X-overs and I seem to recall them saying that they had to add screws since they tried without like the older houses (like mine) and had issues. Thanks for correcting me :-).
January 8, 2021 at 3:48 pm #2004301Thanks for the help , it’s screwed on and seems to be fine. Now if I can catch a trout tomorrow!

Im certainly no expert on trout fishing, but if you are in MN I dont think the season opens until next weekend.???
January 8, 2021 at 5:33 pm #2004319Wow , your right. I assumed it was this weekend by some new coworkers I met that we’re getting ready to go tomorrow. Apparently they didn’t check either! To bad I don’t have their phone numbers to let them know! Thanks captain musky.

Only reason I even looked is because a lake my son has been fishing had trout dumped in it this past fall and he lost one at the hole last weekend. I knew the season was closed but looked any way.

Yeah I used to have a regular Otter cabin (not X over) and I never screwed that piece in but for whatever reason it wouldn’t stay put with the X-over.
There are some really minor design improvements I wish otter would make that would make the pro X-over cabin, in my opinion, the ultimate 2 person portable shack.
the skirt design could be improved, and I would LOVE if they made a cabin that sits about 3″ shorter when collapsed. This would guarantee it fits under all tonneau covers on the market without having to open it. Slide in/ slide out of truck bed without touching the tonneau would be amazing. And finally a little light weighting on the whole unit, I think they could shave quite a few pounds on the over engineered seat brackets, although in their current design I cannot imagine a seat bracket ever failing I think there’s some pounds to be saved there.
It’s still my favorite shack but I’ve been sincerely eyeballing the Eskimo Apex after using my buddy’s a few weeks ago.
