Otter Tail Ice/Fishing Update

It’s started! We currently have 8-9” of ice on the SW side where we spend the majority of our ice fishing season. The big snow Friday missed up so there’s about 2” of snow on the lake. Mixed reports so far from the guys who have been out. Jigging 14-18ft has been best with a few jumbo perch mixed in.

Our access is open to ATV and UTV’s. Houses started going out yesterday.

Avoid the crowds! There’s a reason the NWT chose to have their Championship here. 😉

Any ice or fishing update Trev? Are guys driving half tons out yet? OT is on my short list for this upcoming weekend trip

We have roads plowed, so yes, driving trucks out. Fishing was slower this weekend, guessing the weather had something to do with that.

Otter Tail is a mess (as of 6 days ago). Slush and flooding for the bigger lakes in the area. Not gonna catch me out there without a snowmobile. Im more familiar with the Pelican/Riviera side, maybe Trev can speak to Vacationland’s roads.

Wish I had a more optimistic report for ya, but I won’t be back on the ice around here until late ice.

Thank you. It’s exactly what I figured but I wanted to ask.

You can still get on the lake on the west side, by the Corner Store, and mainly fish the shore break for maybe a mile stretch. That’s about it, unless you’ve got a track machine. Ready for open water myself, this winter has been a struggle.

Most reports I’ve seen from the area have been horror stories of slush and flooding

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. It’s what I expected but was hoping otherwise
