I can call Otter to ask tomorrow and will if I don’t get an answer here, but I thought I’d check the IDO ThinkTank.

The Latch on my Otter Sportsman broke off. Does anyone know where to get a replacement? Cant find on the Otter website.

Are you close to Maple Lake, MN? drive to the factory and ask the guys who likely built them… they could at least steer you towards where to get a replacement if they don’t have any on hand anymore…

I gave them a call this morning. Their best suggestion was to go to a hardware store and find something that might work. Not the most impressive response as far as I’m concerned. Was pretty disappointed. I get it; probably not a daily need for them, but if anything is going bad on the caddy, it’ll be the latch. I can’t believe they don’t have replacements for them.

Didnt they quit making these a few (4-5) years ago? Not sure why they would carry replacement parts.

But to help you out… when I had one, my latch broke as well and I put a small eye bolt on each side and used a bungy strap to keep it shut and never had a problem with it this way.

yeah, that’s not great, but understand they no longer manufacture it so the call center guys likely don’t have an answer sheet to read from anymore…

The latch isn’t proprietary, Yamaha FX PWC’s used to have them on their rear hatch doors, if you took it to a major hardware fastner store vs a small neighborhood hardware store they likely have them or at least a big catalog to order the parts from…

I didn’t realize they didn’t sell it anymore. I guess that makes more sense to not carry parts for an item no longer sold.

Thanks for the link to the Yamaha latch. HOpefully that’ll work for me.

is the link working, i’ve been trying to re-upload it because it shows broken on my screen. I don’t know if that’s the exact part, but its close and should help you find the same kind or take the otter one apart and see if the pieces match?

Check Amazon as well. There are a ton of them.

However you may want to look into a rubber latch like this. I’ve got a couple on my boat, and they work well and seem less clumsy than what you originally had on there.
