I have a pro thermal otter lodge. Love everything but the weight. IMO the quality of the otter dominates the ice. These are no longer a few hundred bucks, these are $1000 investments. Otter warranty is excellent. I think clam has slacked off in previous models, but competition is forcing a better product line. If you are pulling it with a machine, weight is only an issue at the truck. Seats and creature comforts are the next consideration. Storage is big too. I think either will serve you well for many seasons. My otter is excellent and I will enjoy it for MANY years to come. This is no time to let a little money difference to make the call.

looking online i can get the resort or the six-pack 1660 mag thermal for the same price, 399.99. so im just trying to decide. between the 2. i have seen the clam in person but havent found a store with the otter in stock anywhere close to me

i guess one of my biggest questions is if they both have the same sz poles, they are both full thermal, basically the same size, why is the clam weigh 7 pounds heavier?? that is a pretty significant weight difference

I’ve owned both and I’m 100% in the Otter camp as well. I had a few Clam houses (Bigfoot XL2000, Six Pack Mag 1550, Six Pack Mag 1660) and the quality of the Otter and service was far better.

Without a Gander Warranty on my XL2000 I would have been up a creek.

Little things add up too. Oversized bag, removable windows, etc. I had a hell of a time with Clam zipper pulls breaking. No issue with Otters.

Its actually 11 lbs heavier. I believe the hubs are heavier on the clam.
