Can anyone that has gotten the new Otter Light kit tell me if I got one could I use 1 strip in my Cottage and 1 in my Hideout ? From the videos I’ve seen 1 strip in a Cottage or Hideout is plenty. Thanks Glenn

The kit has plugs on the end of the wires that allow you to connect the two lights together and then ultimately the on/off/dimmer switch. If you want to use one light bar in one shack and one in another you would have to cut one of the plugs off and then install either alligator clips or those metal ends to connect to a battery. Obviously you wouldn’t have the dimmer feature on that one, but it should work.
It would be nice if you could just buy the switch complete with the plug, then you wouldn’t have to cut any wires.

It is a VERY nice setup, very happy with the ease of use and install. Hopefully they standup, but they do seem high quality.

Very true I Didn’t even think of that. Also be careful not to bend the light bars too much. I broke one checking the flexibility

Fleet Farm has them on sale for $34.95. Got mine and it seemed like they were going pretty fast. Only two left on the shelf.

Certainly don’t mean to hijack the thread here, but I’m planning on picking a set up for my Lodge. Do you guys find that you can leave them attached to the poles when transporting and storing the house?

Yes. Maybe disconnect the wires but the light bar itself should be fine when installed around the poles

Has anybody routed the wires inside the poles? I hate exposed wires…

With them being led and using less power, can they be powered with a smaller battery than the standard 12v flasher battery? Maybe a USB battery charge pack?

I haven’t routed them through the poles, but I tried using a 6v battery and they wouldn’t turn on so whatever you use to power them I imagine it has to put out 12volts.

I picked up a led light strip with a usb end on it from Best Buy. 4’ strip and i plug it into a power pack…i believe it puts out 5 or 6 volts. 15$ and it’s super bright!

The Otter rep at the Scheels ice show in Fargo said he had ran his 5 days of demos on a regular depth finder battery and didn’t have to charge yet on the 6th morning. Used one bar tonight in my cabin and was almost blinded when I had it turned all the way up. By far the best ice fishing light I’ve seen so far.
