Just curious those that have the Otter light kit where they prefer to install them? On the back bar, bar above your head, etc.? I know it probably really doesn’t matter with how bright these lights get and the dim feature but just looking what your preference is if you like it right over your head more or behind you. Just picked one up today for my frabill bro sidestep. They look pretty sweet!

I put mine over my head pointing forward abit. Found that straight down or behind me there’s a shadow and that doesn’t help when tying on hooks with light line. But each to their own. There easy to move around to find how you like them

I put mine overhead and a little forward as well. I had them on the back bar at first but I blocked some of the light and it annoyed me. Fleet has them on sale right now.

Above my head here too ! I ran mine last year and really like them. I only use half the set in my Cottage and the other half in my Hideout. Got the extra power cord from Otter and use a Dakota Lithium to power it. Awesome setups

Above my head, have one bar in my Kenai Pro and use the other when I’m fishing in a buddies hub. Great lights

I put one above my head angling forward a touch. I put the second one behind me, shining down into my sled. dimmer switch comes down by the left seat in the picture and the battery sits under the seat

What are you guys using for a battery mount? I’ve been thinking of getting the lights but really don’t want a battery just rolling around in the sled.

Put mine on the bar over the chairs and angled slightly forward.
    Do have an additional question:
Can anyone show a picture of how they run the wires so they don’t get pinched when the shack is folded down.

I don’t have the battery mounted yet. I usually transport the battery in an ammo dry box.
I’ll try and get a pic of my wire set up

I have them on the bar directly above my head pointing straight forward. Keeps it bright with out having it in your eyes

I put mine on the back bar, I have a lodge with the bench seat so the extra light in the tub vs the floor was more beneficial to me. Plus i sometimes feel like the light spooks fish in shallow water but that is just me…

Thanks guys I was leaning toward the bar above my head like a lot of people are doing but i’ll play with them once I get them installed and see. It’s nice you can add on to them too. I keep a milk crate in my tub so might start out with the battery in that and if I don’t like it will probably get the clam mount.

Buy adhesive LED’s on Amazon. You can purchase a 14′ strip for $15.00. Cut the strip in half and stick them to the bars. Extend the wires to a battery. Way more light and a quarter of the cost.

I put mine on the bar above my head in my cottage, one angled back the other angled forward. Always used a lantern in the past. These are amazing lights and they seem really well built.

I put mine on the bar above your head pointed slightly forward in my otter cabin like others have said, I used electrical tape to keep the wire going to light secure on the pole. I bought a clam battery box I put in my sled to secure my battery..as much as it killed me putting a clam product in a otter sled it does a good job.

Does the adhesive work or do you need to fasten by other means?

They have velcro wraps with a buckle and I have not had any issues with them moving.

I also put it on the bar over my head pointing forward. It comes with two lights and I’m still trying to figure out where I want my second light. I’m toying with the idea on the inside of my sled so I can actually see what’s down there since I have the bench seat.

I will say one thing, I love these lights. The dimmer switch is a game changer.

These are an excellent alternative to the overpriced otter lights. Imo they are also better. Comes with dimmer switch and you can cut the strip to whatever length you need

I have the clam cut in bar light. I see Otter has the strap on light kit (or how ever it attaches) with a dimmer.

Question is can I install a dimmer with my Clam led light kit?

I have learned that LED takes a special critter as my outdoor spook lights have had an issue after I went with LED floods for them. My interior Lutron dimmers will have to be changed too when I change out my interior floods as well. I have not rechearched this anywhere as it just came to my mind. So my question is again,,,

Can I install a dimmer with my Clam LED cut in tube light kit?

These use 2835 leds they are older tech. Get the ones that use 5630 led much better.

    3528 LED 3.5 mm 6-8 lumens 20-30 mA
    5050 LED 5.0 mm 16-22 lumens 60 mA
    5630 LED 5.6 mm 45-50 lumens 150 mA

I have both led strips and the new otter light led . By far more convenient and 1200 lumens of light with the Otter light. I can move the Otter lights easily from pop up to flip over. The construction of the Otter led wiring is more durable than whats available in rolled led light strips , just my opinion. You get what you pay for .
