Otter Hub Zipper

    Hey guys,

I’ve got an otter resort hub that’s got a broken zipper. It was a floor model from scheels, so warranty is out of the picture. The zipper is all intact, it is just not together. Zipper pull is attached to the house side put not the door side. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this back together? I’d attempt to bend the zipper out and then pinch it back on but it looks like cast and I don’t want to break it.

    Thanks in advance!

Oh not yet another one… doah

Tylor, search this forum and you will find this issue was discovered well before your current dilemma. I’m not sure there was a conclusive resolution.

It’s been stated like Andy says, but most people it seems have good luck with calling customer service and seeing what they can do. Explain your situation and hope for the best.

Thanks for the replies guys, I sent an email to otter and they responded by saying the only thing they could do for me was give me a 25% off coupon to the otter website. Floor model houses carry no warranty. Looking like my only option is to attempt to fix it myself, and then bring it to a canvas shop to have them put a new zipper on it.

I had similar problem with a Resort, I had a receipt and it was all good in the end, had it not been, I would have taken it to George’s Shoe and Skate Repair in St Paul, they’re on Grand Avenue, they repair hockey bags too, I took a favorite rod bag there for zipper repair once, it cost me about 20 bucks… they did good work and I still have and use that rod bag… or REI may have an answer for you….

Hey guys I just solved this otter zipper issue. Currently on the lake, 14 below zero and my Main zipper split and the one side came out. (2018 otter lodge x-over pro) I have a Leatherman with me and I was able to cut the little square of cloth away from the ends of the zipper. Just between the threads where the actual zipper track is so you don’t ruin the seal. Once you have the track exposed on both inside and outside you can take the zipper and put it back on get it started then I used my pliers and squeezed the hell out of both sides works like brand new. Saved this trip!!

What u Just described happened to us this weekend too….our repair was hanging jackets over it from various angles. That and having the big buddy on high entire time kept us going. Will try that repair in the shed tonight. Was just going to try Velcro and not use that door anymore
