Otter Cottage XT question

For those who have removed the bench, will fold up chairs fit in the tub allowing 2 people to fish or will the angle on the front of the tub put the chairs too close making it cramped? Does removing the bench save that much on weight?

I own an older cottage pro 1200. I dont think the tub size has changed but could be wrong. I fish in an otter chair, have an otter caddy and fish another person next to me in a folding metal chair. Works just fine

Its tight as hell, and wouldn’t be much fun.

kinda depends on how big the 2 people are IMO. My brother and i just fished in my cottage on red earlier this year. enough room for the 2 of us and an otter caddy in between us, 2 holes, 2 flashers, a big buddy and a bait bucket on the floor. You’ll want to enjoy the company of the person you are with for sure as its tight quarters but its manageable.

I put a bucket and a small camp chair in to test, it would be tight but would work if needed, I put quick pins in place of the bolts on the bench hinges so it can be easily removed when I’m going solo…think I’ll start with that and see how it works. My biggest concern is how much weight the bench adds and how the sled is going to pull by hand…first time out will be Thursday so we’ll see.

I agree with Crappie … my 20 something year old son and I are not the smallest of people and the bench is fine. If it is my wife and I there is plenty of room.

In MN we can manage 3 easy holes in the house and I usually run a tip-up outside anyways.

The weight of the house (with the seat) is manageable if the snow is not too deep. If the snow is a bit much (like last year) >>> Smitty sled.

I get it that is probably too late for you at this point, but I would choose a different sled house for solo fishing. While I love bird hunting alone (well me and the dog(s)) … I find it rare to ice fish alone … and if I do it is nice enough outside that I do not need any house. If I am alone … I am running real light and probably moving about unless I find the bite.
