Otter Cabin/Cottage questions…

    Hello,

Anyone know what the true folded dimensions of a cabin are? I’ve received 3 different measurements from multiple sources (64, 66, 70).

Also, has anyone jigged with 2 averaged sized guys in a cottage (bench)? I just sat in one tonight for the first time at Fleet Farm, and it seems like it might work. For my purposes, the 2nd individual would be along a few times a year. I am usually by myself, but would like that 2nd person to feel comfortable.

As for size, I’m about 210, friend is around 180.

    Thanks!

A cabin is 66 inches long. Get a cabin, you will regret fishing two guys in a cottage

I fish in my cottage with 2 guys often. My fishing buddy is 6 ft 3 230 lbs and I’m 5 9 180. It’s tight but it works. If money was no object I would take the cabin over the cottage but fishing 2 out of the cottage is definitely doable

I fish two adults in my cottage as well. I am usually alone and it is perfect for that.

    I love my cabin.

You can remove seats or space them apart depending on your guest.

We have a cottage with swivel seats and the wife and I have plenty of room together in there but the real test will come next week when the brother in law joins me. We fished in a cabin in SD a few weeks ago and there is a little more room in it for sure. What’s nice is both the wife and brother in law both jig with opposite hands than me that helps a lot. Be careful if your on the end of the angle of the tub if the other person stands up could be a little tipsy.

One other question. What are the pros/cons of the bench vs the swivel seats? In some respects, the bench certainly has some merits. I did not feel uncomfortable sitting on it. It looks like it swivels up, so you can load gear in underneath…

For me, the bench was necessary. It works as a table when I’m alone and doesn’t lead to junk falling into the sled as much. Also, I wanted to be able to have me and two small kids in there with me. I have also been able to “lounge” a bit more, rolling on the side a bit to give the cheeks a rest. It does flip up and the seat back flips down onto the seat for transport. I also felt like it was more sturdy than the chairs.

I use 2 seats and the otter caddy in the middle. this functions as my table to put random stuff on. like I said its very tight with myself and my 6’3″ friend but it works and I think the seats are a lot more comfortable than the bench. I have a bad back and the bench seats hurt to sit on after a while.

I can fit 2 dudes in an Evo1. Just think of it shorter reach to pass a beer, wouldn’t want a strained elbow. toast

My Cabin is 66 inches. I can fit it in my F150 short box, but just barely. One of the things I like about the Cabin is you can fit the Otter Caddy between the seats for lunch, tackle, coffee etc.

I also own a Cottage with a bench seat. It is my go to shack for the wife and I. We even fished my wife, I and our 7 year old grandson in it one time. I really like the cottage, can heat it with a Coleman lantern. It is 54 inches.

if you fish alone a lot would go cottage it will work for the few times you have a guest especially if you fish 1 hole each inside and tipups outside.

if you expect to have more guests or family/kids coming with get the cabin.

personally I have the lodge. great when I need room but I honestly have used my old clam 2000 tiny suit case house more times this year than my lodge just because I can load it in 2 seconds without busting a sweat and feeling like I did a powerlifting workout(coming from a guy 30 and inshape) biggers not always better some stuff can be put in the truck or set outside while fishing.

on the lodge though have seats not bench. would definitely only get seats after fishing in houses with both. much more comfortable in my opinion.
either way can’t go wrong if it involves fishing. good luck
