I use seats. I think they are more comfortable and I like being able to use only 1 and make it more of the ultimate 1 man. I fish mainly out of a otter cabin.

I like the seats too. Take one out if its just me, easier to get at stuff around the sled, rather than getting up and digging under the seat.

The bench is nice if you like to put things next to you and use it as a ‘workbench’, or if you like to bring your SO out and snuggle and drink hot cocoa together.

I like the bench.Like Chode said, I use it put my tackle bag and extra gear on. It also feels more sturdy to me. I’m not afraid that I’ll break it.

seats with a sportsman’s caddy, if running solo you then can take a seat out to save weight and space…Sportsman’s caddy is the greatest accessory otter ever made..

I only have the bench and it sits a little too high for me.

I think the bench is uncomfortable. The seats are very comfortable!

Seats, like other have mentioned, gives you more options if you want to remove a seat. The sportsman caddy is a great addition.

I have the swivel seats in my Otter Lodge and really like them. I usually put the minnow bucket in the middle or items that I need close by instead of reaching behind me. I don’t think I would like having to reach over the bench seat to grab something every time but can’t say I have experience fishing in one with a bench seat.

Seats, tried the bench and didn’t care for it. The bench is ok but felt like sitting on a board after 15 minutes.

Seats. Most times I leave the 2nd seat in the truck…now if the bench were longer and wider I might be able to take a nap on it. I have a small piece of oak board 2″ x 2″ about 10″ long that I slip between the front edge of the tub and the front of the seat base – sorta tilts the seat back and is more comfortable for me.

Seats. More comfortable and if you decide to go solo with that house you can take out a seat for more room. Just my $.02

Exactly! That caddy is awesome. And removing a seat is nice.

I like my custom bench seat. When set up for fishing, it is slid back all the way to the back wall and your feet are inside the tub. When traveling, it lays flat and you can strap the auger down to it. It is also tall enough to fit 5gal pails underneath. I have gained almost 2 feet of room in front of me, the heater isn’t right in your face. I used some old couch cushions for the foam rubber and upholstered it with naughihide. There are tables on each side of the bench seat. Just like sitting on the couch watching TV, except I am watching my vexilar

Assuming talking to puddle, I agree would like to see that setup.

Does your feet get colder at all since the tub blocks the heat at all?

Negative on the cold feet. I have a piece of carpet on the floor. Your feet are in the tub not on the ice. If they do get cold, just rest them on the top lip of the tub and you are good to go. Another must have is a heater that is up off the ice, heater/cookers don’t work for me as they melt all the snow and all you have is a wet skating rink when you step out of the tub. If the heater, (i use a single sunflower that screws into a 20 pounder) is up off of the ice, the heat won’t melt the snow.

Not sure why you cannot post pics from your phone, I do it all the time. Text them to 715-379-2376 and I will post them.

I like my little Otter 650 cottage with a bench seat. As long as I get out of the seat at least every 3-4 hours it is pretty comfortable. On the other hand, I do enjoy the pro shanties with individual seats and have found them to be more comfortable over a long period than the bench seat. One cannot go wrong with either seating system and are better built ice shanties than other industry competitor. In turn, a strong competitive advantage will continue to grow the Otter brand to further push the envelope of portable flipover shanties.
