Hello everyone. I’ve worked for Otter for 5 and a half years now and the last 3 years I have also been on their Pro-Staff team. For the past 4 years I have been in charge of building all the Otter display houses seen in stores and at fishing shows. I’ve been called the “Otter Assembly Guru”. Last year I was appointed to be the “Online Otter Assembly Concierge”. So, I’m here to help you guys and gals with any and all assembly questions you might have. I’ll be posting pictures and videos all year. Feel free to private message me any time. Hope to see you at the shows and on the ice. Tight lines.

Hey Jim, I have owned the otter 1200 for few years now. When I extend the first poles i find it very difficult to do. I have to put my foot on the side of the sled and pull it up as hard as I can. Initially I thought it would loosen up but it has not I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make this process easier?

Do you just spray that silicone on a cloth or the pole?

Is it the poles that are not sliding or the fabric is too tight? I know a couple years they were relatively tight. Too the point where the front bar was up off the ice. If that is the case you could try taking the fabric plastic holddowns off the tub and letting some more fabric above the tub and reattach fabric holddowns if that makes sense.

My first Otter Cabin from about 4-5 years ago required the seat bracket bar to be installed about a 1/2 inch lower than what the directions call for to avoid the seats being angled facing downward causing you to slide off, has this been corrected since?

The seats are supposed to angled down as to not cut off blood circulation.

One question, ok two. When I was tightening one of the bolts on the roof frame pieces to the sled, the bolt snapped. Is this common? And where can i get a replacement?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Mine was angled forward when I first mounted. There’s no way a person’s back could take sitting downhill all day. I was able to get mine to sit flat. No issues after that.

I cut a piece of lumber to fit in the groove to lift the front of the seat up a bit.

I bought a cottage two years ago. The fabric is too tight and doesn’t allow the 2nd set of poles(from the ice) to fully extend and “click” into position. I tried adjusting the canvas and it didn’t make any difference. I also measured every piece for the poles and made sure they were the correct length and in the correct position. I contacted Otter and they sent me out a new canvas. I installed the new canvas and I am having the same problem. Only thing I can think of is trimming down the poles that are attached to the tub. Have any other ideas?
