Great to hear some reports and musings from Randy, our own Boots on the Ground member who actually attended the SHOT Show.
The rest of us had to wait for the hunting and shooting media stories to start spinning up during and after the show.
Interesting tidbits from the shotgun world:
Remington is bringing out a new line of autoloaders called the V3. According to the company’s press release, the V3 is new design, but using tried and true gas operation. What else would we expect from Remington? While the fore-end and the lines remind me of earlier Benellis, Remington is going a completely different direction with this shotgun. As an interesting development, the V3 does not have a recoil spring housed in the butt stock. Instead, it has internal recoil springs housed within the action. Weight is said to be just over 7 pounds for the 12 gauge model.
Weatherby is re-introducing the Orion lineup of over/unders. This is a redesigned Orion and it looks to be a very solid field-grade option. The SRP was said to be $1099, but to me this means that almost certainly we will see store prices of below $1k making this an affordable option as well. Just as exciting to me is the continued growth of this venerable name in American firearms. It would simply be a shame for Weatherby NOT to be out there after the tremendous innovation and style direction that Roy Weatherby brought to American firearms.
