Water levels where still very high last Sunday around Osceola. High enough that I had no problem running the navigator through the woods in several areas to get to the back waters. Good news is its looking to be down about 3′ by this weekend. Guessing that should put water levels back with in the banks in many areas. Still think that will make a tough opener for guys chasing walleyes and sauger on this stretch of river. Guys chasing cats, rough fish should have conditions setting up nice for that. Either way should be a fun opener this weekend.

Anyone else headed out of Osceola or the area this weekend?

I was looking for somewhere to go this weekend. Soaking a few crawlers with my daughter might be a good option.

Nice laid back fishing soaking crawlers. Soak a few minnows to and you might find some eyes. With the water this high current seams coming off the lower end of islands should be setting up. Current breaks at side channels could be good to. Get on the right one and it can be some fast action.

Oh yeah. Somehow I forgot it was the opener. I won’t be taking the daughter to fish walleyes.

Glad I got out on the river last sunday. Going to be a whole new river this weekend. Water dropping fast. Down over 3′ already. Guessing another foot or more by Saturday.
