Have the garage near completion. I used OSB and not sheetrock. It’s a man’s garage. toast

Anyone paint one before and any tips? I’m going white with walls and ceiling. Thanks. wave

I think it soaks up paint so a good primer coat will be required.

Man garage and then go all white? Its not a hospital, better throw some urethane on that and call it good!

Maybe a sealer first so it doesn’t take 20 gallons of paint.

OSB bleeds thru normal primer and paint over time. Pay the $20* per gallon of blocker for the first coat.

I did the same thing with my garage. Painted it 10 years ago and mine still looks great. I painted my walls grey. I never even primed it

A thick sealer may cut down on VOC outgassing too.

How about a primer paint combo? Wife says they make that?

Primer paint combo = Dual purpose battery

Will work but really doesn’t excel at either aspect. Get primer, get paint, seperate

that’s what I was going to mention. A place in town here had 9/16 4×8 sheets for $33.

Glad I got mine done. I’ve heard it’s hard to find rafters as well. Sounds like it’s not a good time to build.

Not sure the reason for the price increase?

All building materials are sky high right now. Good luck even finding treated lumber if you need any

supply chain issues coupled with people working from home and having more time for projects. Toss in some stimulus money and it’s a perfect storm.

I used oil based Kilz Primer and a couple of coats of paint on top of it and the glue still bleed thru a little bit after a few years. If you don’t mind that, use whatever. If that bothers you, use the best stuff you can.

I did x2 heavy coats of Kilz followed by 2 heavy coats of paint. I let it dry for a full day + in between each and have not had any bleeding through at the 5 year mark.
