Ice Fishing

Hey Y’all

I’m looking to my IDA buddies to give me the scoop on the ice conditions on Osakis. I am coming home Feb 9th from North Carolina to meet a group of friends on Osakis…How is the ice? I have heard it hasn’t been the typical January in MN. I am bringing a friend from NC up to see how we get it done on the ice back home but he is scared about the ice or lack there of..any info would be appreciated.

Hey BigTime,I was on Osakis this past weekend,1-29-06.
Theres plenty of ice. We were way on the north end in about 18 ft. and there was about a foot or so of ice. Not a whole lot for vehicle traffic,but all kinds of 4-wheelers.
We fished from about noon-3:00 before we had to head back to Rochester.Not a lot of action but we left about prime time.
I broke of a nice fish,and my brother lost a dandy minutes later.Wish we could have stayed longer.
