My son and I will be heading up to Osakis next weekend. Maybe the last trip of the year. I’ve never been to Osakis or the Alexandria area fishing before. Any help would be appreciated. Any good baitshops, restaurants, or even some insight on the current fishing report. I know it’s a quick trip and we can’t expect to learn the whole lake in just one weekend. I go to Mille Lacs and the Fifty Lakes area quite often and just wanted to experience another lake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go to zorbaz for restaurant. Awesome Mexican pizza. Fish Mary or Reno. Osakis have heard great things recently used to go up there every summer growing up.

Sorry Slip Nick… can’t agree with much of this. Mary and Reno are both extremely slow right now. My guide buddy just won the tourney on Reno with one of the only two limits caught… most had 1 or 0… super tough bite. Mary has also been very tough.

Osakis on the other hand is just starting for big crappie. You should find them suspended over the deep water 20-25′ down or on the bottom in 20-25′ near structure. I hope you do well, there are some giants out there. Small jig and a crappie minnow works well.

And for good pizza most locals will agree Zorbaz is good if you want to see the owner drink himself to sleep. Hit up Angelina’s for fire oven pizza. Have fun!

Quick fishing report from September 22-23. The crappie bite was good. Schools of fish suspended out over deep basin during the day and moving up to the first break at sundown. A lot of fish in the 10-11 range with a few larger. Over all a fun quick trip. Thanks to the fellow IDOers for the lake info. Especially Joe. Thanks again.
